Is there grocery store before we get to WDW?
We are flying into Orlando and renting a car for our 8 day stay!! We have never been to Florida and are a little nervous:nervous about getting to WDW from the airport. Also, we would like to stop at a grocery store on the way to pick up some snacks. Being from Colorado we obviously do not have the same grocery store chains. Are there any good stores on the way to the resort that are easily accessable so we do not get lost?!?
Also, how hard is it to find WDW from the airport? Is it well marked?? Should we purchase a map of the area and any suggestions on where to get a map of Orlando? I did order some info on Orlando, do anyone know if there is a good enough map in that info?Still so many questions and getting to so little time :) !!Any help on these subjects would be greatly appreciated!!:) :)

Okay, take 417(the greeneway)to exit 6 for Epcot. When you come to the stop light, there is a 7-11 on the corner. Make a left on that road. Take that road to the end. Right on the left is a Publix Supermarket. After you get all your supplies, get back on that road toward the 7-11. Make a left at that traffic light. That road goes right into WDW.

Because our economy depends on tourists, Orlando is very tourist-friendly. The roads are exceptionally well-marked, so I wouldn't worry about getting to WDW. And once you get on Disney property, the roads are even more well-marked.
If you plan to do any driving at all around Orlando, or if you just want to get a feel for the area, I recommend you buy a Streetwise Orlando map. If you order directly from the company at the preceding link, Streetwise Orlando is $5.95 plus $1.60 shipping and handling. You can also order the maps from Amazon.com, but you'll pay more for shipping. The maps are laminated in plastic for durability and show only major details so you don't have to wade through tons of tiny streets to find what you're looking for. The Streetwise Orlando map has a separate section that includes WDW. The map is definitely a good investment.

Your rental car company will provide a map which will be sufficient for use in getting to WDW. Since most WDW tourists only travel the main roadways around WDW, I don't see where you would need a more complete map.
417 is the roadway you take to WDW when you use the airport's South Exit. |

The Wal-Mart is a bit of a drive, and not really on the way to WDW from the airport. I would suggest either going directly to the resort, and then asking someone at the concierge desk directions to a store, or, map out your plan before hand. There is a new Publix not far from Downtown Disney, as well as Goodings (not recommended) and a Winn-Dixie just outside the Downtown Disney entrance. Either the Publix or Winn-Dixie will have decent prices, and they are new stores, so they will be nice.

Publix is probably most convenient...and you're going to get a LOT better prices there than you will at Gooding's, etc.
