Survived the Family Reunion

Hi, everyone!

Well, the WDW family reunion has come and gone and I've lived to tell the tale. Shepherding 18 family members, some of whom had never even met before, around WDW was a lot of fun but it was pretty tiring and stressful, too.

We did a good job of planning and often left things fairly unstructured so people had the freedom to do what they wanted rather than being dragged along with the crowd. We usually split up into two groups each day, each group going to a different park. DW and I briefed everyone beforehand on what attractions not to miss, etc., and it worked out well.

The first day in the parks it rained all day -- really rare for this time of year in Florida -- but at least that kept the temperature down. It did make it kind of hard to keep track of people when seemingly every guest in the park, including us, was wearing yellow WDW rain ponchos.

The rainy first day was probably the biggest bump in the road. Of course we didn't come close to accomplishing everything we had hoped to do, but we expected that. The only really surprising thing was that nobody was interested in riding Mission: Space.

Because of the difficulty in making priority seating for that many people, we pretty much ate on the fly except for the final night. That night we had PS at the Concourse Steakhouse in the Contemporary -- the only restaurant on property that could accommodate us on fairly short notice. DW and I had never eaten there before and had heard mediocre reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised.

The staff was very accommodating in seating our group together and the food was good. After the meal, we took everyone up to the observation deck on the top floor for a spectacular view of the World. It was a nice way to end the reunion.

At any rate, it's great to be back at DC.

Wow, that was hard work!! Sounds like you handled it very well!! Glad to hear you survived it, and are now back home at DC!!:D

I am so happy that you did survive your family reunion. If that had been my family reunion, they would have had to close down the park to fit us all inside lolol. I am glad that you had a great time and that you have rejoined us here at DC.

I think that we at DC are entitled to at least one ancdote about some faus-pas that happened on the trip
