I hesitate to post this,.........

and I might get flamed, but I just can't not say this anymore. I am not going to name any specific names, but there are some posters here whose grammar and spelling skills are nonexistant. As a substitute teacher,I am very conscious of the way that I write and post and it is very hard for me to read the posts of people who never use a capital or sentence punctuation. I don't mean the occasional spelling error, but a post that has no capitals or spaces between sentences so you can't tell the difference between one thought and the next. I would just like to say please, please, please people, use spell check and check your grammar!!! Okay,I'm climbing off my soapbox now. Thank you very much.

I agree, sorta. I have only witnessed the extreme case on one occasion. A few months ago I actually posted a "Say What?" reply. Later I found out the writer was only 8 years old. I felt rather ashamed that I was so ignorant.

I thnk we al ned to be moore contience of hour mistaces!!!:p

I am sorry to post this but i am highly offended by this post
i am an adult living with dyslexia and struggle with it daily and try and try to make sure my posts have correct grammer and spelling but sometimes i just dont know if it is correct or not
this is a place that we come to talk about disney and now i feel i cant enjoy posting without getting teased or told to check my grammer. None of us swear or post bad things so why cant we post and enjoy reading and responding to posts?? just a thougt.

i really have to think about staying with this web site.
thanks:cry:

I am completely stunned by mickaholic4077 even thinking of posting this...........and EXTREMELY annoyed!!!!!

Just remember some indiviuals do suffer from dyslexia or dyspracia and have severe learning difficulties. Even hand or arm disabliities.....

Does this mean they shouldn't post on this site just so not to annoy you????

I think NOT...!!

MICKAHOLIC4077, I think you should carefully and seriously think about what you post BEFORE you post it next time and take into consideration peoples disabilties.:hmmm

You have shown a very uncaring, selfish side and WE on this wonderful  Disney site do not appreciate it one tidy little bit!

:devil :devil :devil :devil :devil :devil :

Hi disneymaverick, I am so very sorry to learn of your struggle with dyslexia. Please stay here with us, I have enjoyed every single one of your posts!

WendyHG, I understand your anger here, but mickaholic is a senior member of DC and has contributed a lot to these boards.
In her defense, I am sure she did NOT intend this thread for anyone with ANY type of disability.

....just for those of us who get lazy sometimes, lol.

I agree with disneymaverick and WendyHG. This is a Disney forum, and sometimes messages like this are uncalled for. Grammatical errors are made by EVERYONE on this site and not on purpose, but as long as you understand the point that is being made by the writer, I don't see why this issue constantly keeps being brought up. If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. :madmad :madmad

I am OUTRAGED...

Senior member or not, it was still uncalled for and senior mebers should put a little more thought into what they post...

I work for local Governmet on the Equal Opportunities Team and this is unacceptable....

If it's just bad spelling and carelessness then ok, people should taje more care but SOME people do have genuine disabliities. and this should be taken into consideration...

Sorry.........can't help it....I AM STEAMING!!!!!!!!!:( :( :(

Folks, this is from the DC Rules:

Grammar - Please use correct grammar and spelling while avoiding any abbreviation of common words or phrases. No sentences such as "can u tell me cuz i want to no". Persistent disregard for the English language will be grounds for banning. Honest spelling and grammar mistakes are acceptable, but please take your time when posting.

_______

A tip if you know you have spelling problems: Compose your post in Word Processing software (such as MS Word), run the spell check on it, then copy/paste the text back to DC. I do this all the time on longer posts.

Bruce

Thanks for the sound advice Bruce. We all know it is in the rules but we forget it when we get in a hurry to post and don't proof read before we hit the send button.

Wendy, first, take a few deep breaths. Getting so upset is not good for your health.

I have no idea what mickaholic's intent was in her post (I will not speak for her) but I am reading it to cover careless mistakes and typing errors. I do not think mickaholic was directing this at people with disabilities. I understand that some people have problems that make it difficult to avoid mistakes when writing, I think most of us at DC understand that.

I don't want to lose members at DC because people think they can't post unless they have a college degree. I do what I can to avoid as many mistakes as I can when I post but I know I have made many mistakes. I think the most glaring problems can be corrected by slowing down when we post. I think if we all slow down and proof our posts before we send them we will all find that we can all correct a few things.

It was not my intent to cause anyone with a disability to think that they shouldn't post here. My point was just to say to everyone to please proofread your posts before hitting that submit button. As a teacher,(even though just a sub),it really is very difficult for me to read anything that isn't grammatically correct or spelled right. I didn't mean to cause anybody any angst;if I did, then I am truly sorry.

I really do not want to dignify this thread but, I am actually glad this came about because I have been wanting to say this for a while... This site is supposed to be about DISNEY. I will leave it at that.

 I am very guilty of spelling mistakes and rotten grammar. I have this terrible habit of typing the same way I speak too. I was awful when it came to english in school and still awful when it comes to punctuation. There are times when I use extra ..... !!!! and ???. I try. thats the best I can do. I don't have MS word on this computer or any type of word processor so I cant use it to proof anything I write.
Now that I have explained my lack of writing (or is it writting?) skills.
Tolerance, if I have spelled that correctly. Please, more important then how someone speaks or writes or spells, are the feelings of another person.

disneymaverick, please dont leave DC. from my heart I say that, because I personally think your such a sweet person and have enjoyed getting to know you. I will admit when I first read this, I thought, maybe I should'nt be posting any more because I know no matter how hard I try I am gonna mess up ..yep see there I just did .. because I cant help but type as I speak.

Thanks Tink!!!
I will try not to leave but really i feel that was just kind of rude.
I love disney central and i feel this is one place i can come and not be judge but dont feel like that now.
I also do not have anything that can spell check my emails
i try so hard to make sure everything is correct but sometimes to me it does and to others it isnt
i think alot of you are correct especially Leslie this site is about disney and only that .
i have so much mroe to say but really dont want to rant and rave about this any longer
i think we should all here be on the same level playing field
no one is any better then the next we are all disney fans and that should be all that matters. :dazed
thanks for all the support from all especially TINK!
i still need time to cool off
thanks:cry:

You know mickaholic4077 if some member's grammar bothers you that much, you can always add them to your ignore list. You might miss out on a lot of good info though.

I enjoy all of the good people and the positive spirit of this site so much that I hardly ever notice the errors myself...
