I'll never NOT want to be an Ap'er,but....

as I read everyone's posts and see how excited they are about going to Disney,it makes me realize that as much as I love being able to go to Disney any time I want,I really miss the wonderful sense of anticipation you all seem to have. I used to have it when I only went twice a year when we came down to visit my aunt and uncle. Now I think,"Great,I'm going to Disney for the day,"but the butterflies in the stomach feeling isn't there anymore!!

Interesting concept, Micka...one I hadn't really thought of before.

I am in the midst of planning my next WDW visit (in December...my last one was Sep2002), and I realise that half the fun is in the planning, especially for a WDW trip. What with browsing the net, getting guidebooks, checking weather, digging out old photos, finding the best flights, waiting with nervous anticipation to see if AP discounts appear, the to-ing and fro-ing of emails between myself and Mouseketrips to sort out resort reservations, going over menus, reading trips reports, reading about new stuff at the parks, watching holiday videos, making lists of stuff I want to do, setting up my Countdown clock on DC and watching the days s-l-o-w-l-y roll by, booking the time off work, choosing stuff to pack, arranging accomodation for my cats, renewing our APs (and the ongoing trauma that is...another post perhaps) and of course chatting with the good and wonderful people at DC....yeah, I guess I enjoy the anticipation phase of the holiday almost as much as the vacation itself!:D

So, whilst I'm totally jealous of you living a mere 90 miles from the Mouse (and me living on the other side of the Atlantic), I do enjoy the planning...so I guess there is some trade off there...

Just don't try to talk to me on the way home from WDW back to rainy UK...bear with sore head doesn't even come close!

Oh no Mick - say it isn't so!
Are you sure you are not just in a slump? I make frequent trips also but am just as excited every time I go. My goal is to stay in every resort on WDW property.

I really enjoyed the travel channels show about the Cruise and I am really considering it.

Breathe deeply, and start planning that next trip, and plan something special.

I have often thought about this. Would I be as excited to go to WDW if I was able to go anytime I wanted???? I guess I will not know the answer, but I sure am willing to give it a shot!!!

I guess maybe all the appreciation comes from the fact that i can only go two times a year.... But something tells me that I would love it just as much. It is the "Happiest Place on Earth."

I know what you mean!! I got so excited planning and planning for my June week long trip. Then when i went by myself for the day in August, it was like...hmmmm...i was just here in June and July:hmmm I didn't get that..."I'm here on main street, looking at the castle" goosebumps either in July or August! I'm hoping i was just in a slump those times, and when we go for the day in a couple weeks i'll be back to normal!!

Ok Mick, maybe you can get that spark back, and make a few plans to come and meet some of us while we are there. (since you are so close) Even if it's just to say "HI"! JOANN:)

I'm glad to hear the slump is ending. I was beginning to feel that mickaholic has fallen off the Mickey wagon and become sober. That would be a shame.:p ;)
Glad to hear you're a Mouseaholic once again.:D :heart :)

Oh mickaholic we need to do a Disney planning intervention before you have to change your user name! Perhaps you should make a list of the things you've never seen or done at WDW and try to fill each day with some surprises on your next trip. If you've never taken one of the back stage tours perhaps that would renew the spark you long for! Faith, trust and pixie dust!

WOW, this Sunday!!! Time has gone by sooooo fast! :D Yay, now you just got me all excited again! (Not that I needed much help!) ;)

Seriously mickaholic, I can understand why the anticipation might not be as great when you have the chance to go pretty much whenever. One of the things that makes my trips so exciting is the fact that they are few and far between, and I have to travel all the way across the country to get there!! That is also why I chose to work at Disneyland instead of WDW...this way, even if I tire of working in the MK, I will have 3 other parks to anticipate when I go on vacation.

Maybe you could get more excited if you try different things--like different restaurants, etc. :hmmm I don't know, it's a thought!

Oh no!!! :nooo: I hope that never happens to me! No matter how many times I go, those butterfly feelings never leave me! But I don't live 90 miles from the mouse, either! Maybe I would feel the same way if I could go all the time for the day! But I only go once (if most twice) each year, and the magic is still there. The moment I woke up on my last day of vacation, I was already planning my next trip in my head! Even though that trip is only for 4 days, I will still be in THE WORLD!

Hope the magic is still there for you, Mickaholic. Here's some pixie dust for ya!!! ~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~* ~*~*~*~*~*

That's a great idea,Joann!! I don't remember why I didn't go see Chubby Checker last year and my mother and I were planning to go this year,so I will definitely do that!! The 15th is the best day for us because it's the weekend,so I won't have to take off any subbing days to go.
