most memoriable character greet

When my son was 3 (he's 17 now!) we took him to WDW for his birthday. At Epcot he conked out during the movie at the China pavillion. There was a bench just outside the theater, so I sat with him snoozing in my lap while my husband did some shopping. After a short time Chip and Dale came out of the doors right next to the bench. My son absolutely LOVED Chip and Dale and watched a video of them OVER AND OVER again. They saw him sleeping and came over and sat on either side of us and kind of tickled him awake. There were NO other people around, and the look on his face was priceless. They spent several minutes playing peek a boo and just downright entertaining him. I've been back to Epcot dozens of times and think of that moment every time. (Even tho DS now has a shaved head and earrings:cry: )

Catfish, that was so sweet. How exciting that must have been for your son then! (By the way, I'm so jealous that your hubby was shopping, mine isn't a big shopper, lol)

All of these stories are so precious, keep them coming. I'm hoping to have more after our trip in Oct. I'll let you all know!:D

I actually have two stories!!

The first was at DL with Mr. Smee and Captain Hook!! As we walked in Hook ran over and grabbed my son(5 yrs) and began a sword dual with Mr. Smee. Hook was using my DS as a sheild!! It was hilarious!! At first my DS did not know what to think, but then realized he was the center of everyone's attention and thought it was great!!! Our 3 yr. old cried, however, because she thought Hook was hurting her brother!! It went on for a while, then Hook would put him down and he would start to walk away and then Hook would quick grab him again and it would start all over!!! My DS still talks about that all the time!!!

The SECOND was at WDW(a year later) at Animal Kingdom!! We were leaving and out front were a BUNCH of characters and NO CROWDS!!!
We were getting autographs and pictures and when my 4 year old was done she went and sat in her stroller where Chip promptly started to walk away with her and the stroller!!! Then Meeko got in on the action and took his turn pushing her around. I quickly snapped a couple of pictures!!! She loved it!! And when we got those pictures back she had to carry them around with her for a week!!! I guess they made her feel special!!

I have found I am as excited as the kids to see the characters!! Anyone else feel that way?? My DH just laughs and shakes his head!!!:) :)

How funny Disneyjenny that your story involves Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and your 5 year old son, because that was my DL story exactly!! ( AND my name is Jennifer!! ~~ Weird huh??)

My second trip to DL...1995. I was 10, my sister was 2. We had barely entered Main Street for our first beautiful day in Disneyland, and my sister and I are wearing these matching Lion King shorts outfits with Simba all over them. Right around the central hub, we see Chip n' Dale signing autographs...

As we go over to say hi, one of them (either Chip or Dale) spots us and starts gesturing like mad until the other one sees us, too. Apparently they were excited because we were "twins..." sort of like them. :laugh Then Dale decided to steal my visor and hang it on his ear, and Chip chased him around trying to get it back. They completely hammed it up and stole the show, and I bet all the other kids were jealous because they were paying so much attention to me and my little sis! :D

I think we still have that on video...and it is the first memory in my mind--EVER--of a true "Disney" smile. The look on my face when Dale stold my visor and I watched Chip chase him down...priceless. Completely priceless. I was a 10-year-old girl in heaven. I will never forget that.

O.K. after reading all these AGAIN..... I have deceided to tell my story!!! By the way I love all the storys. I think the characters might be my favorite thing about WDW. :D

Here it goes, it may take awhile for me to type it out. (Big Breath in, exhale here we go)

In 2000 I brought my 2 DS and my parents to WDW, this was the first time for everyone and we were not sure what to expect. We rode the Pirates of the Caribbean for the first time, totally unbelieveable, loved it. When we exited the ride and walked outside Captain Hook and Mr.Smee were there waiting. They must have just gotten there because there was hardly anyone around. We lined up to get autographs and pictures. OUR TURN!!! I don't know if anyone has ever noticed how Captain Hook sign the books or not ( he only has one hand! ;) ) but Mr.Smee had to hold the book for him. Captain Hook signs then Mr. Smee will sign. Captain Hook has nothing to do while Mr.Smee signs but to do"whatever" with the kids. Mr.Smee is signing and Captain Hook is rubbing his chin staring at my 5yo son who is staring right back thinking ????? Captain Hook took one step forward and DS took one step back. Then again one step forward and one step back. My DS then grabs my 7yo DS and pushes him toward Captain Hook to keep him away! 5yo DS is saying "go away, get away from me, go away, get away from me" over and over agin! He was not really scared, he just didn't know what to expect (I think). Now 5yo is completely behind 7yo pushing him toward Hook and Hook is still on a mission to "get" him. In the mean time I notice Mr. Smee is gone! I look over to my right , here is Mr.Smee coming to get ME, I was only trying to take pictures!! I didn't know what to do either :o so I turned and snapped a picture of him. It turned out great. Smee runs back to Hook and the boys to line up for the picture. In the picture Hook is on the left, 7yo next to Hook, 5yo next to 7yo and Smee next to 5yo. If you look at the picture of the group, you'll notice Hooks hook is around 5yo's neck. Hook finally got him!! I have pictures in sequence of the story. If you didn't know the whole story you could get the jest (sp?) of it from the pictures.

Later that night , I was up kind of late getting our stuff together to go home the next day , when I finally got to bed I couldn't stop laughing!! I was real tired!! To this day I love to tell this story......and laugh every time!! :laugh

Hopefully everyone thinks this is as funny as I do!!!!

I just have to tell everyone that I just love reading all of these posts. I have sat here laughing, crying, and remembering my past trip to WDW. Please keep them coming. I love reading about all the interaction of the kids and grown-ups with the beloved characters.

I to love them. When we were there in 2001 everytime I would see a character, I would have to go get a picture. My brother and sister-in-law were with me at this time. My dear brother was getting frustered with me and finally said " you have a picture of Mickey"--I replied "oh no--He had a different outfit on--He had changed his cloths--I must have this outfit toooooo." Poor Chris, he just shakes his head and lets me go do my thing.

Can't wait for upcoming trip to see all the characters.

:heart :) :) :heart

OK - just had to jump in.

When my oldest daughter Sarah was about 8, she was a little bit shy and had a habit of kind of whispering to strangers. We were on our way out of the MK one day and we came across the characters from Robin Hood. Sarah had been quite sick earlier that year and had gone through all her Disney movies and then discovered Robin Hood. She LOVED that movie. And she always loved the villians best, and there was Prince John. She handed him her autograph book, he looked imperiously at her and signed. She kind of whispered Thank you, but he didn't hear her. He wouldn't give back her book. He looked down his nose at her, he tapped his foot, he twiddled his thumbs, he looked royally affronted. She was totally mystified! He went to the Sheriff and indicted that Sarah should be arrested. He was So Funny and haughty and royal. Finally, we figured out that he hadn't heard her say "Thank you", so she did - and then on her own - curtsied. He stood there nodding royally and gave her her book. He had written - Sarah - pay your taxes! Long live me! I have never enjoyed a character more and Sarah still talks about it.

Great thread!

I laughed, I cried, I laughed some more...

OK, I have 2 stories from our trip a few weeks ago.

Our first morning in DW we went to CRT for breakfast. DD was in awe! She never stopped smiling. After meeting all the princesses DD (who is 5 1/2) said to me "Mommy, this IS a dream come true!" I'll remember that moment forever! She also won't let us forget that Cinderella kissed her on top of her head!

On a separate day we were watching the Share A Dream Come True Parade (DD got pulled out of the crowd and was made an honorary mouseketeer by Mickey - very cool!) But when Jafar came by he was very close to us. I was talking to DD and DS, pointing out characters as they went by and said "Oh, look - its JAFAR! BOOOO!" and did a big thumbs down. Well, Jafar saw me and V-E-R-Y slowy lifted his finger to point right at me looking V-E-R-Y mean. DD saw all of this and got very concerned. "You shouldn't have done that Mommy - I think you made him mad!"

Priceless Disney memories!!!
:) :) :)
