Jan/Feb weather

I got a fabulous price on a winter package for Jan 30th - Feb 3rd. What kind of weather should I be anticipating? I have heard anything from shorts and a sweatshirt...too freezing off my mickey ears. Anyone have first hand knowledge they would like to share? I have a feeling packing may be a little tricky this time around.

Dana it's good to see you back! I've been wondering where you've been. We went those exact dates Jan30-Feb3 2003! The weather was fabulous and not a drop of rain the whole time! I've never been to WDW and had such delightful weather. Here are the actual temps those days High/Low:
30th- 76/48
31st - 77/51
1st- 69/48
2nd- 72/44
3rd- 77/42
In the mornings we wore shorts and shorts sleeves with a jacket for the first couple of hours of park opening. Around 11AM the shorts & short sleeves were fine. One day was warm enough for swimming. For evenings when we were going to be out later we wore jeans and short sleeves and took a jacket. DD (age 4) was comfortable in jeans and short sleeves at just about any time of day but wore her jacket during morning and evening hours. We packed more than we needed but I'd still pack the same way! You never know if a cold front or warm front will move through! Another huge bonus... the place was so quiet when we were there! I hope you have the same luck!

Hey Dab!

Thanks for all the info. I was worried about that time of year, but sounds ideal. I guess I think cold for that time being from Jersey and all.

Sorry I have been away so long. I have really been working a lot. Over the last year, I have been trasferrerd and promoted twice. It's been hectic and when I finally get home, I spend it with my DD and my DBF(boy friend) who forgets my name some weeks...lol. I need this trip in a bad way. The dust is finally starting to settle and I can relax a bit now...till November. Oh the wonders of retail management. I can't tell you how many times I have wished I stayed in college. Oh well!!!! It will make this upcoming trip all the more special. :D

Dana,

We really used to enjoy going late Jan early Feb. The crowds are non-existant, the weather very mild, and the CMs seem extra helpful.

The ONLY downside is that you do need to pack for any type of weather. We have spent trips where we could not get the kids out of the pool, and others when we had to wear a jacket most of the day. Very little rain during that period, which is very nice. I will never forget the fist time I took the whole family, my DW is a super packer and we were set, however we ran into a couple at the bus stop who had just had to purchase sweatshirts for a family of 6, they were in a bit of sticker shock. Once we pulled up in front of the Magic Kingdom they seemed to forget all about it though!

Enjoy,
-harry

I too am a type A packer and even bring sweatshirts and pants in August (as if). However, I would rather be prepared for anything than to have to spend all my "fun money" on an entire wardrobe. It just makes the suitcase heavier....thats what towncar service is for..:D

Geez Dana thought you had forgotten all about DC.

I have no idea about the weather in Jan/Feb just wanted to welcome you back and scold you for being away so long.

Don't ever do that again. :madmad

Seriously though, welcome back.

Gee, Dab, you keep great notes! I didn't even think to write down the temperature! I'm going to be there the same week this coming year, too!

And I can't wait!:)

Sorry I was away so long. I was into some serious trasferring with work. Two different clean-ups in one year. Both of them really big jobs. Still it's no excuse. Sorry for keeping away and thanks for the welcome back. It feels great to talk with you all again.

We went to WDW in Jan/Feb of 2001. I agree with other posters be prepared for all types of weather. My husband wears shorts year round, so he was fine with shorts and a sweatshirt.
I wore shotrs sweatshirt in the AM ans took my sweatshirt off by around noon.
However it was cool at night, cool enough to have a winter jacket on. We are from Chicago, so we alway bring our winter jacket on the flight and that way we have it for night time.
Parks are great no real crowds at all.
Have fun!

We've gone at the end of Jan/start of Feb for the last 2 years, and we also found that some nights it was quite chilly, and we both were cold with a light sweater over a t-shirt. One more layer on hand fixed it! (We're from Rhode Island, btw, so we're no strangers to cold, either)

We went the week befor Valentines Day this year. The weather was very mild for that time of year. We did get more rain than other times of year...mostly in the morning as opposed to the normal afternoon shower you will find during summer months.

Bring some warm clothes (light jacket, sweatshirts etc.) for night time activities. We wore mostly shorts & polo shirts during the day.

The weather guide on Disneyworld.com was very accurate. You can check that out here http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wal...VPLWeatherRoot

Hope This helps:) :) :)

Thanks for the input all. I now realize that I will definately have to bring the really BIG suitcase. Again, I would rather prepared than stuck buying a new wardrobe with my FUN money. I think I will just assume pants every day and bring short and long sleeves shirts. Jackets and Sweatshirts are a given and I'll probally just throw some shorts in too....in otherwords I'll be packing 2 sets of clothes for 2 sets of weather conditions....hmmm maybe I'll just bring a nice size bottle of TIDE and save myslef the aggrevation, but who wants to do laundry on vacation? I know some of you like the idea of coming home to no laundry, but i think laundry is a form of punishment for something I did in a previous life. Decisions decisions....

Dana...I tried overpacking last trip. I tried to think of every situation, every weather condition...and had a huge suitcase to prove it.

Turns out that I only wore shorts during the day (because I am in Florida!)

I only wore one pair of jeans every night (because they were the only ones that looked good with sneakers...and you have to wear sneakers!)

I brought sweaters but I only wore my new Mickey Mouse sweatshirt (because I am at Disney World!)

And I figured that was okay, because no one knows me and I'm on vacation!

:heart :) Oh, and I did have to do laundry, anyway:dazed
