My DD and I have a Disney countdown tradition that we do for every trip. It's your basic countdown chain with a twist. This year I added the dates to each link and messages to remember to do things. We both enjoy making this and watching our links grow smaller and smaller until the day to leave for our trip comes. We also have a Disney movie marathon the week before. We watch a different movie every night and the night before we leave we watch many. One movie we always watch the day before we leave is he vacation planning video (I just ordered the new one). The question is who has a countdown tradition and what is? I would love to see how everyone makes the days pass until their trip.

What we use to make our chain (if anyone is interested) is contrusruction paper for each link representing one day of counting. When it gets to three months before we have a contruction paper size poster saying "THREE MONTHS TO GO!" with WDW pictures from last trip, coloring book pages, or pictures from old guide books. We do this for every month until the final day and we have a huge posterboard size poster saying "DISNEY DAY!!". It really takes up alot of room, but it's fun and I don't know who enjoys it more me or her.

Nope, you aren't the only one with countdown traditions!!;) There was a thread awhile back where everyone posted their count down traditions! We use the chains too, and also make a poster board w/a countdown and some pictures from our last trip. We hang it on the inside of our front door, and make sure to mark the days off everyday. We have so much fun. For my sons 8th birthday trip this past June we started counting 115 days out...haha. For our next trip we are around 70 days, so by next week we are going to make another poster. Anyone who comes to our door see's it, and thinks its great!!

I don't have a countdown tradition but this morning my DH said Wow! The trip is really getting close. I told him how close, right down to days and hours. I would have told him minutes if I had been on line. He looked at me in awe (and a little bit, are you crazy) and said how did you know that? Easy, my wonderful countdown on DC....13 days!

Thanks. We had fun making it!! I think being a weekend, maybe not everyone is online and you may get more posts next week with everyones traditions!! There are so many new members, its good to start this thread again and see what else everyone does!! I'm glad you brought it up, because it reminded me it was time to make a new poster!!:D :)

okay, I'll share-we have 6 adults going in Dec. and I'm the "Cruise Director" no cruise involved though. Every morning I call everyone and give them the "official countdown". It has gotten so bad that last week at I even counted how many Fridays till we leave (11 of course) and now they want that count. So now I have to give them the "Friday" count. I am having the time of my life even before we leave. We had a 90 day pre planning Mickey Party where we went out to dinner and did nothing but talk about Mickey and Disney. This is way to much fun. By the way 76 days till Mickey.:heart :)

That is too cute. What fun. I hadn't considered a 90 day party. Maybe we'll do a 90 movie night or something. Cool ideas.

I'm a little jealous that you all seem to have such fun in the planning. I don't get to do much of that anymore;but then again,I can just get up and decide to go for the day.(Yes,I am bragging,but with love,I hope!!!:D :D )

Also, a good Idea i read about in a Disney Kids book, was to have a disney dinner the night before you leave. During the week before, you get everyones favorite Disney food, and start planning the meal. Make place mats and name cards and decorations. I would add in a Disney movie that night, or even the Disney Planning video. I was going to do this during our June trip, but things were crazy that week and we didn't get a chance. Maybe we'll try it the week *before* we go! LOL

I like that "Friday" countdown. Looks like we have the same amount of time to go!! LOL We arrive Friday 12/5!!

OH, and Dana, I love your ideas!! I wish i could see a picture of those!! Sounds really neat!!!

Ok, we did it! We made our Christmas trip countdown! We had fun making it. We looked through our pictures from our MVMCP trip in 2001 and our trip we took when we just stayed at the resorts in 2002 at Christmas time. Brandon drew the Christmas tree and wrote all the days! He's proud of that!! Haha!!

And proud he should be. It's adorable. I am so glad that my post prompted you all to have some great family time today. I was scolded because mine isn't hanging up yet. We arent going to start the actual count until September 29th. I ran out of contruction paper:whistle: So, tomorrow after work I'll be hanging a chain up with over 100 links to be pulled and months of waiting.:D

Thanks, we had a lot of fun!! That's going to be one *long* chain!! LOL Where do you hang it? We did one when we had 30 days to go, and we just hung it off of a chair. I can't even imagine where you'd put one w/100 chains!! It just makes it more "real" when you have a countdown going on!

I have this one long wall in my bedroom in dire need of some kinda art or something. Well instead of having normal decore, I have a Disney countdown wall. I have to get you a picture of this. It goes from one side to the other...I finished hanging it today. I have a photo lab at work...I'll see if she can save it to disc for me. Give me a day or two.
