Using your room card to charge on
I know you can put a credit card on your room and then charge things with your room key. Can I just put a large deposit with my room and charge to my room that way? I don't want to use my credit card that way.
Thanks, Cyndy:)

Yes, you can. You can precharge a set amount, then have a credit applied at the end of the week if you don't use it all.
I would recommend, however, that you simply place a set spending limit on the room key. Let's say you want to spend no more than $100 for the week. When they run your card at check-in, they pre-authorize $100 and set a limit on your card. It also stops them from pre-authorizing an amount much higher than what you anticipate (I forget the formula) I've prepaid cash at the beginning of the trip, and the refund process was confusing to the CM's upon checkout. I just didn't want to carry all that cash with me. Now, we just use a preset limit on my CC and leave cash at home.

Thank you. MickeyMac, your reply brings up another question. Can I set spending limits on individual room keys? Say, I want DS #1 to be able to spend a certain amount and DS #2 a different amount, can I do that?

If you happen to think of it when you are there, that would be great. I just was wondering. I would like for both DS to be able to charge a drink or snack while at the pool or something, but if their card were lost or misplaced, the liability would be small. Also, I wouldn't have to worry about either trying to buy out any of the gift shops!!:laugh :laugh I don't want to leave my CC either.

Noahsark - about the spending limits, I am not sure whether Disney can do that, but I do know that many of the credit card companies have cards that you can set up for your kids to use with pre-set limits on them. That may be a good way to limit their spending.

Well, I've got a list of stuff to research while I'm there, I certainly don't mind asking.
Unless Jmouse gets to it first - they're there *all* the time! :D Oh wait, isn't Parkhopper too?

Thanks for the help. I hadn't thought of the pre-set cc for my kids. That would be a great thing for my 15 yo DS. That might be better even than him being able to charge to the room. It would even be a good way for my 9yo to learn more about budgeting his money. I could put his spending money on and he would have to decide what to spend it on. Maybe I will do that with him at home for awhile. Now I am rambling! Thanks so much for the help!
