Am I the only one who remembers 2 1/2 hour wait times?

Maybe this is a thing of the past, but I have read several posts talking about "long" wait times and they mean 45 minutes.

Back when I used to go more during the summertime, I can clearly remember 2 1/2 hour wait times for Spaceship Earth (we used to wait until later in the day to ride it) and 90 minutes wait for Small World.

Am I the only one who remembers this? Does this not happen anymore?

Just wondering.

I remember 2 hour waits for Spece Mountain, Space Ship Earth, Haunted Mansion, and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. I remeber the first few times I visited waiting for Country Bear Jamboree for 1 hour. On our last visit the longest lines I saw were 1 Hour for Splash Mountain in the stand by line, and 55 minutes for the Safari in AK. I think Fast pass has cut down some wait times, and I don't think people will wait as long as they used to because FP has spoiled us.

ohhh no your not the only one who remembers those waits .. i remember them for just about all the rides .. we stood that long for and/or longer for just Dumbo!! POC, the great Movie ride, and even WOM! I remember lines for Space mountian that run all the way out to the center where you board the People mover. And when Splash Mountain first open I can remember being in line for 3 hours to ride it!

I remember going during the summer and being just misarable waiting for over an hour and a half or more for rides and shows!:nooo: this was when i was a child/teenager. We always thought it was worth it to stand in the lines, but boy was it a pain!

We have since learned the smart thing is, *when possible*, to go during "off season". October is "ususally" off season, but it is looking more like summer/holiday crowds this year. It is good for Disney. It really didn't bother us, because the one thing that was a long wait that we wanted to see (peter pan) we got a fast pass for and only waited less than 3 minutes to get on the ride. I was there during the summer and 4th of July this year. We hit all the rides we wanted to first thing in the AM, and most rides were walk on then. But in the afternoon they were very crowded and long waits. I guess we have just been *spoiled* latley;) :laugh

I remember that, too! Even Snow White's Scary Adventure would sometimes take over an hour! Fast Pass has definitely been an improvement. :)

The last time I was there, in January, I waited OVER 3 HOURS for Splash Mountain. However, this was only because it had been cold and rainy that whole week and it was the first Sunny day in a while. I wouldn't have waited but it was our last day there and I had never been on it before. Nothing else was much of a wait.

I'm very much looking forward to utilizing Fast Pass on our next trip!

Good question!!

I have be scared for life from a 3-hour wait for ToT many years ago.
We have been going in May and using fastpass to try and avoid ever waiting that long again.

Is this a thing of the past ?

For me I have no idea cause we just won't wait over 40 minutes for any rides anymore.

I remember those waits!:madmad Not fun with a squirmy 5 yo! But that was in June and July. We only go in either November or Jan/Feb now. And FP has made waiting long times less likely.:)

Like many others, I remember those long waits of 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the more popular rides. We too have started going in the 'off season' so we seldom encounter the really long lines. With the decreased number of visitors after 9/11 and the addition of AK, the lines don't seem to be as long. Also, with the experience of quite a few trips, we have learned that if the park we go to is really busy, we can usually go to a different park and things are not quite as crowded.

I remember those days - before fast pass and beyond. My poor kids never saw the parade or fireworks because those were the best time to ride those E-ticket rides.

When we first discovered MVMCP several years ago we were so amazed at the short lines!! Something unheard of in WDW. This was one of the first times the kids rode Space Mountain - there was no way I was standing in a line that snaked out of the building and around the courtyard. We would always hop on the people mover to look at the lines inside SM. They were never able to talk me into those lines.

It's interesting how things have changed - or maybe how we have changed.

I remember them very well. Especially when we use to come down to DW for the 4th of July!!! Hot, long lines, humidity that was so miserable, and alot of unhappy parents and kids. But here I am years later kids all grown, and still going to DW. Yes, if I had to I would probably wait in those lines again. That's how much we love it down there!!! JOANN:)

Gosh, I remember at least 1 hour being a SHORT wait time for something when I went to WDW and DL years ago. But ever since my trip last year (when we walked on everything), I get cranky at the thought of waiting at all!!! :madmad Too spoiled now. :hmmm

I never used the Fast Pass--I'm always afraid we'll be on the other side of the park when our time comes up and won't make it back and we'll miss it! But I know why I used to wait in long lines and I won't now. I got old!! :laugh Once you hit 45 it gets harder all the time to stand in lines. In March I'll be 53 and a line over 20 minutes stops me cold! That's why unless I can go sometime between the middle of October to the end of November, or January through March, on a Monday or Tuesday, I wait until I can! I miss a year here and there this way, but the crowds aren't so bad! :p :)

My first trip was in '79 so I remember very long lines too! I also think FP cuts down on some lines. 90 min. for ToT last week seemed too long for me! But, only one side was running. :(
