Friend of mine had a disney themed wedding. She had the Mickey ears crocheted in mini size and sewn to her veil and dress. Flower girl threw micky confetti instead of flower petals, and there was micky confetti instead of rice. Flowers and boutineers had mickey inserts and ribbon.

At the reception, mickey confetti on the tables, mickey music playing, centerpieces included stuffed mickeys and minnies, as well as other characters. Cake had the mickey/minnie topper as well as other characters in the icing on all the tiers.

Good luck with your plans.

The one store at the GF has all kinds of beautiful wedding stuff. You should defnately do the stuffes Mickey and Minnie center peice idea that someone gave. I also like the Mickey confetti instead of flowers for the flower girl. Why not go all the way with coloring and maybe have your bridesmaids and groomsmen wear black and white with mickey accesories for the tuxes and gowns? Why not have the flower girl in a Minnie gown and the ringboy as Mickey? (without masks of course) I could go on forever. I love to do parties. Jacki, we could do some damage together. I do all of my store's promo displays and make hand made archways and wreaths etc for the pure pleasure of it. My daughter's b-day parites are themed to the tee. Woo Hoo!! You guys got me all pumped to do something. I need to make something now!:)

Well, since you asked.....

One of the cooler things I have seen at WDW was a wedding taking place at the little wedding pavillion at the Yacht Club. The bride pulled up in Cinderella's coach, pulled buy some of the prettiest horses I've ever seen. Both Micky and Minnie were in attendance ( the mouse looks good in a tux ). And let's face it, can you think of a better place to start a honeymoon:D .

Of course they also have that entire wedding chapel set up on one of the Disney lakes. I've past it many times, but never visited it.

The money you would save on a full blown traditional wedding would more then pay for family and wedding party to join you!

Just a thought,
-harry

ps: Big time congrats to both of you.

Got a big laugh out of this remark, because it's sooooo true!!!:laugh

Our daughter had a Disney themed wedding 4 years ago. Even found her shower favors down at Disney. I thought my DH was going to flip when I told him I just had 125 ornaments shipped home for our daughters shower. He did get over it!
Bought the caked topper, plus the wedding knive set, plus had it all engraved at DW. Plus, her invitations were from Disney.
She did have a beautiful wedding. Buuuuut , I still like the post above!!!! Alot cheaper!!! :) JOANN

I think I read in a previous post that your family is from Alaska, so since they have to travel anyhow, why not go ahead and have a Disney wedding at WDW. You really can't get more themed than that. Plus you don't have far to travel for your honeymoon... If you want to ditch your wedding party during the honeymoon, you could always schedule a Disney cruise. :)
Although stopping by Vegas on the way to Florida may not seem like a bad idea after a few more months of planning... ;) :D

Oh, almost forgot my manners... Welcome to DC.

Thanks so much for the suggestions everyone! :D (I'll make some personal comments later on...) :laugh

I just wanted to tell you what we *have* planned so far...the color theme of our wedding is going to be groom/groomsmen in black, bridesmaids in red, flowers of red, white & yellow. (Do you follow the color theme at all???) :)

It is possible we will be getting married in our church and having the reception both inside/outside there as well, but that is just a guess for now.

I'll let you know more as time goes by! :D All suggestions appreciated (for real!) ;)

So you will not be having the family attend at Disney with you? You are looking for Disney theming at your church and in your hometown? I just want details before I put my thinking ears on...

For a honeymoon, would you consider the cruise *at all?* DCL does a private ceremony by the ship captain, and can do vow renewals (or they used to) on the deck. Friends of ours did this, very small, very intimate, just the bride, groom, and a few family members, and it had to be the most romantic wedding/renewal I'd ever seen. It was at sunset, and it was truly gorgeous.

You guys sound young and adventurous, so maybe that's an idea to tuck under your hat... :D

When is the date?

Oh, and welcome, DG's Guy! :D
