Parents are going to Disney

My mom has always wanted to go to Disney for the annual teddy bear convention at Epcot but never went because it was always so close to X-mas etc etc etc.... Anyway my loving father went out 2weeks ago and bought a Harley. (Mom is not happy at all) So after about 2 days of not talking Mom is getting her wish and they are off to Disney the 1st week in December.
We just booked her reservation last night. They will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside for the week.
It has been about 6 years since they have been though I get to help them with all the planning etc. Im so excited about being able to help them.

Anyway what I was wondering is since they will be there during the holiday time and DH and I have never been there around x-mas time is there anything that I should tell them to make sure that they do?
I read here that there is no Osborne Family festival of lights this year. I am going to try to get them tickets to MVMCP (Can I still get them?) Is there anything else that I'm forgetting?
Thanks so much :) :)

I have never been there at holidays time, but am told that the decorations at the different resorts are must-sees. Each resort has it's own theme and its suppose to be beautiful. It's hardly a substitiute for the Osborne's lights, but festive nonetheless. You can easily find out if MVMCP is sold out by calling down there or checking wdwig.com. Both will be able to tell you all available dates. I'm so happy that your mother got her wish. She only needed a Harley to make it happen:laugh Apparently, Daddy got his wish too:whistle:

Tell them to take the hog and go resort hopping while they are there :). Actually we will be there until Dec 2nd and are really looking forward to seeing all the decorations. We are a bit bummed about the Osbourne lights, but there seems to be so much else to do I doubt if we will miss them.

A new Harley and a trip to WDW how cool is that!

You might want to consider the Candlelight Processional in Epcot.

DH and I are usually there from Thanksgiving to around Dec. 9th. THis year we are going before Thanksgiving. But all you need to do is just enjoy all the Christmas Decorations. They are just beautiful.
If you can get to the different Resorts that would be great also. The WL and AKL are just beautiful around the holidays.
Of course, if you can still get tickets for the MVMCP do so. It is just awsome!!!! The parade, the firworks, the snow falling on Main Street, what a beautiful time we had last year. Would never hesitate to do it over and over!!!:heart
It is a real bummer about the Osborne Festival of Lights, also enjoyed that. I guess , you just might be able to tell that there is not much we do not like when it comes to DW!!!! Hope you have a wonderful time!!!:) JOANN

I think that Im going to try tomorrow and see if I can get them tickets for MVMCP and surprise them somehow.

Mom's still not that thrilled about the Harley, but she is thrilled about the Disney trip. And all the BEARS she plans on buying. OH BOY!!!!!
She ran out today and got the Birbaums Disney book. I told her that she could have mine but she wanted her very own.
I think that Im going to make her a list up of the resorts that they have to visit to check out the decorations etc since they are driving down it will be real easy for them to get around.
Thanks for all the help.

And hey the funny thing is that dad even has his own agenda while hes down there. Which we just found out last night also and its buying a leather jacket to keep him warm on his motorcycle. Supp there is some leather outlet or something place in South Carolina on rt 13 or rt17 so he cant wait to go there.
I think that their car is going to be a little overloaded on this trip. Thank god for UPS :laugh

What is it with these men and the Harley? My husband is probably near the age of your dad and he talks about getting one all the time. If he does I will probably be worse than your Mom, I'm not sure I would EVER speak to him again. I hope they have a wonderful trip. Even though there are no Osbourne lights, hopefully New York will still be decorated the same. They give out 3-D glasses and the lights strung across the streets turn into angels! It also snowed while we were there! We went to MGM also but really didn't notice anything special there.
