srappers how do you find the time?

I have been trying to start my disney scrapbook for 3 weeks and I even bought a huge storage box to organize all my stuff in but I can't seem to find the time to get started. I work outside my home and usually don't get home til 6 pm and then it's time to start dinner, help with homework, get kids clean and to bed before I crash & burn! The weekends are no better b/c I am usually doing the household things that I can't get to during the week!

So I ask all of you what are some tips you can share on making time to scrap?

Girl, I have been TRYING to scrapbook for 2 years!!! I keep buying scrapbooking supplies to add to my collection for the pages I WANT to make, and I never have time to do it. NO worries...I keep taking pictures and keep buying stuff. One day I WILL have the time and I will have the beautiful books that I always dreamed of!!!

Here are a few hints from my wife... first, don't try to do too much at one time, pace yourself and do one page on weekend another page another weekend and so forth.

Second, she sometimes has scrapbooking parties, so they share scissors, materials, help each other out, etc. During these parties, husbands and boyfriends get together and watch sports or just hang out around the house and chat.

Oh, another thing, try being selective about the pictures you want to feature in your scrapbook, if you try to make a scrapbook of ALL the pictures you take in a Disney trip (my wife is a photography aficionado and can take shoot up to 10 36-pic rolls in a few days!), you will never end and it can become frustrating, this happened to my wife a lot when she was beginning her scrapbooking hobby.

Ciao,
Alfredo :D

That is too funny! I am the same way, every store I go in I am looking for Disney stuff to add to my book! My DH is threatening to throw it all out! I just laugh and say go ahead I'll just buy more!

:) :)

Thanks for the tips it is very frustrating as I am a newbie to scrapping and then I have my rugrats nipping at my heels constantly :laugh I too like to take alot of shots but when I start looking at them and thinking about layouts I always say I wish I had this or that shot instead. That's when I get all baffled and frustrated :( I am going to try to calm down and take another stab at it this weekend. That party idea seems like alot of fun...thanks again and welcome to the 2nd happiest place on earth~Disney Central!:)

Hmmm...while I will agree that I just do not have the time that I would like to be able to scrap my photos, here are a few tips....

Organize your photos, and get them ready....figure out what photos you would like on what page, and keep them together. I actually like to keep them in the sleeve that they will go in. This makes it easy to quickly pull out a few picts and get started....

Buy something to slid your unfinished page into...this way it is easy to just pull it out and work on it.

Look into any crops that local scrapbooking stores may have, and take one once or twice a month....you can usually use their supplies, and if you need any paper, you can get is generally at a discount, and you can share ideas, and have some fun while working on your pages!

Take care,

Michelle

I have a box full of photos and all the scrappin' materials. I usually buy, buy, buy. Then sort, sort, sort. I have ideas jotted down, themes sorted and tools neatly organized. Then when I find extra time, I pour a glass of tea (or wine if the mood fits) and settle in with my photos. And if I get caught up in the moment, the laundry, dishes and even DH dinner can wait.

My suggestions for busy mommies would be to make a date with yourself. A day when DH can take the kids and you don't have to worry about housework. Find a local shop that offers open scraps and gather up the stuff and go make scrappy friends! And if you are really lucky you may find a shop that offers childcare.

We were at WDW in June. Took 600+ pictures and ended up scrapbooking around 350 of them (took 2 12x12 scrapbooks). I started by putting all the paper, elements, etc for each page into separate page protectors.

Then I went on a scrapbooking weekend retreat mid-Sept. Well, I completed about 1/3 of the pages I took to work on. Came home and worked diligently for the next several nights to complete the books.

All this because DH and I are going back the Sat after Thanksgiving and of course I'll have MORE pictures and memories to scrap!

Big note: Although I work full time, my kids are grown so I have more time than busy moms to pursue my scrapbooking passion.

I too keep buying, buying, buying. I have a spare room in our house which is called "the scrapbook room" but actually it is a place where all my scrapbooking stuff is stored.

I used to make more time to scrapbook than what I do now. I am fortunate to have a child that is older and no longer needs constant care. I try to scrapbook on the weekends when the mood strikes me. I am putting together a mini scrapbook for my inlaws for Christmas so have been working on this quite often.

Someday I will get all the pictures scrapbooked; especially the Disney one's. My DH can't understand how I can take 15 rolls of film on each trip when we've been 6 times already. Does he not understand that our DD is older each time?

I haven't scrapped in a while (have a 7 month old, and we're moving in 2 mos, so have to spend time packing). When I do actually scrap, I ask my hubby to watch the kids for the day, and I spend the day in the basement with the music on and don't come out until I'm ready for bed. He's really great and lets me get stuff done. Unfortunately, those days don't happen too often, but I enjoy them.

I get to a point where I've got all the tools, a fantastic idea, my supplies in order, color scheme picked out. I sort my gear, arrange my photos, put them all together in their own box, and get ready...

...then we head back to Disney for another trip. :D
