Cedar Point, Ohio
Just wondering, does anyone know anything about this park? Thinking about taking the boys there in July while DW goes home to Brazil for a few weeks. Lots of coasters I hear? Worth the trip? Thank you kindly!

If you are into coasters it is diffenatly worth the trip... NOTHING like Disney, but for thrill and excitement this is the place to be...
Also, about 3 hours south is King's Island in Cincinnati, OH... I personaly like this park better, but some would argue with me... If you have the opportunity to do a park hop in Ohio you can start at King's Island then to Cendar Point and then to Six Flags... However if you end with Six Flags you will be disappointed because Six Flags bought Geoaga (sp) Lake and Sea World and made it one park... I have not been, but I have been told that they have done a nice job, but not a KI or CP... Hope this helps... I live about 21/2 hours South of CP... 2 Hours north of KI.

We go to Ceder Point every couple of years with my DW's family. It boasts some of the largest, fastest roller coasters in the US, possibly the world. If you can get there when it is not too crowded, and you love coasters then it is worth the trip.
While I do enjoy feeling my heart in my throat, I have to admit that a couple of the taller coasters get to be a bit much for me. I can't remember if it was the Magnum or Millenium where I was wishing I could get off about half way up the first hill! I will say that given the choice I would do WDW every single time, but then hey that's why I here right! Enjoy, -harry

Franco54,
We have been to Cedar Point the last two years. We drive 800 miles to ride the tallest and fastest rollercoasters in the world but we're adrenaline junkies. DD (age 12 3/4) LOVES to go to Cedar Point; I think that she would rather do that than Disney sometimes just because they actually have RIDES. It is a very clean park, very large and if you go during the busy times, your wait for the most popular rides will be upwards of 3 hours or more. You can get a hand stamp for time but they go quickly. We went the weekend of Labor Day this year and it was SUPER busy. If you are a ride junkie, especially rollercoasters, this is DEFINATELY the park to go to. Any coaster made at any park is pretty much the same thing at Cedar Point; just a different name. They usually add 1 new coaster each year so maybe they'll add another one for 2004. Top Thrill Dragster was the new one for 2003 and it is 300+ feet tall and speeds of 120 mph! It's over so fast that you don't even feel like you're that high or that fast. The only thing that I don't care for about Cedar Point is there is absolutely NOTHING to do outside the park. It is a very small lake town and their claim to fame is the park. If you go off property...BORING!!! (That is my opinion though)

dizneeluvr gave a great review! My only advice is to allow 2 days at Cedar Point. You will never be able to get it all done in 1 day if you are planning on riding all the coasters.
I grew up with season passes to Kings Island so that will always hold a special place in my heart. The Beast is my all time favorite and they will never build a better wooden coaster. Tons to do in Cincy if you come down this way.

I agree, it's no WDW, but I do enjoy it... hey how do you compare the indoor rollercoaster at KI, outer limits? to RNR? I thought that they were very comparable...agree?

I actually grew up on the other side of the river in Northern Kentucky. Very small town called Bromley. I'm now down in Louisville, KY but my family still lives up there so I'm up that way every few weeks or so.
Son of Beast is a great thrill but still doesn't do justice to the original. Outer Limits has improved over the years. When it first came out it was way rough but they have slowed it down a bit to where you can actually enjoy it now. Very similiar to RnR. But gotta love the music and neon effect that RnR has! Once my son is old enough to enjoy KI we will definately be getting passes again. Both me and DH love it and is no comparison to the Six Flags here in Louisville.

I've been to both. I would have to say the CP is the better (sorry).
I went to KI a year ago last August. It was a pit. Dirty, paint was chipping off everthing, weeds growing in all the plant beds, etc. We had gone a few weekend earlier to CP. Complete opposite. I really enjoyed KI in the past I don't know what happened or if it has changed in the past year. The Beast is a great ride, but Millennium Force is by the best roller coaster I have ever ridden.
