When does your tree go up??

Okay... This Friday I am dragging our 11 foot!! Christmas Tree out of the basement and it will be decorated and our home will be sporting the Christmas Spirit THIS Friday!!!

Now I don't mind, but I would have preferred to wait until after Thanksgiving... but my DW, DD's are insisting that Friday is the day!

When does everyone else put thier tree up??

Well... typically we would put ours up around 2 weeks before Christmas because we usually have a real tree and any amount of time longer than that and we have a firehazard in our living area. However, if we beat Clemson this weekend which would make us bowl eligible thus we would be leaving for a bowl trip on Christmas day, I will be putting a fake tree up around the first week of December.

I always love putting out the Christmas decorations, however putting them away is a real bummer for me.

WOW... now that is what I call a FAN!

I too hate to take down the decorations...

I have a confession... our outdoor garage door lights and porch lights are still red and green from last year! We don't turn them on, but they are there! Yikes did I just admit that on a national web page!  :dazed :dazed I hope that this does not mean I will be the next guest on Operah!!! :laugh :laugh :laugh :laugh

LOL!!!! Ron... you probably don't know, but I'm not really a fan... hubby and I both work for the University of SC athletics department. As fun as it seems, it kinda stinks to spend Christmas Day packing and hopping a plane at 2:00 for 10 days in a hotel when the kids would rather be playing with all of the things that Santa brought. Once we arrive at our destination, the staff does everything possible to make it Christmas-y but there is nothing I love more than a relaxed Christmas Day at home with family and friends. Nonetheless... I want to go BOWLING this year...:laugh

Our tree goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving.
Our family tradition is to go out as a family for breakfast, then head out to find the perfect tree, cut it down and spend most of that day decorating together.

Great thread !!!! We usually go and purchase a live tree a day after thanksgiving or that weekend . This year we had to buy a fake one  because I ended up getting bad allergies this year so no more real one for me So this weekend we are getting our ornaments and we are setting it up ( did I tell you its a disney themed tree )

Actually I have close to 5 tigger ornaments a Pooh angel tree topper One year our special ornament was a mickey and Minnie globe and I just bought new ones from the disney store to add to the collection I also just got a tree skirt of mickey as a snowman ( I think it was last years version ) I got it at the Character Premier store in Sawgrass. I got a great deal on it it was only 29.00 orginially 60 dollars . Plus much more that I cant think of I cant wait to bring them out and look at all the great stuff I have collected since 1997 .Thats when I started celebrating Christmas since I am jewish but my dh is not so he tells me I act like a Kid ( but loves me anyway ) around Christmas .

We always put ours up Thanksgiving weekend. As of this year we'll have 3 trees...the big one in the family room, a smaller one in the home theater that will be Disney themed, & one in the living room that is GWTW themed. Not to mention ALL the other stuff we put out. It takes the whole weekend, so we all make sure we have the Friday off so we have time to do it. Then we usually take it down the weekend after New Years. The house always looks naked afterwards!!!

Normally our Disney tree goes up the weekend after Thanksgiving but since we will be leaving for WDW on Friday after Turkey day - it's going up this Saturday!

I can't wait for Snow White to be at the top of my tree with all my Disney ornaments and tree skirt out! Can't forget our monorail which goes around our tree.
