Magical Gatherings ??
Wasn't sure where to post this question.
Can anyone explain what "magical gatherings" is all about. We are traveling with 11 people. We've already booked our trips seperately. I guess I am asking "what can magical gatherings do for us" ? Oh, and is it free? Thanks in advance.

I was wondering the same thing & ordered the Disney info regarding Magical Gatherings since we'll be 9. I think there is some info on the Disney site about it. Seems like there are a few "perks" when you are a party of 8 or more. We all booked separately too but are staying on the same resort. I'm hoping to get my DVD/info soon!

Disney has discovered that more and more people have been traveling in large groups of either friends or family to WDW. Magical Gatherings is basically just a marketing term that they are using to push the fact that WDW is a good place to go on a group vacation.
There are no special discounts, nothing really different at all than from before. They do have the Magical Gatherings software that is pretty cool. If you have a group of 8 or more, you can book some of the Grand Gatherings special programs for your group such as the "Safari Celebration Dinner" at Disney's Animal Kingdom, a "Good Morning Gathering" character breakfast at Magic Kingdom, the "Magical Fireworks Voyage" on Seven Seas Lagoon ar the "International Dinner and IllumiNations Dessert Reception" at Epcot. You also get the use of a Magical Gatherings planner at WDW to help you plan out your meals, recreation, etc. once you have made your reservations. Magical Gatherins at WDW!

My sister called CRO to make some changes to a reservation and they gave her a "magical gatherings confirmation number" to apply to our reservations (even the reservations that are booked through DVC!)
I think we are going to do the Fireworks Cruise. It sounds like so much fun! They pipe the music in from "Wishes" and we enjoy a cruise around Seven Seas Lagoon with Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, and Peter Pan. It also includes "pirate tales" (storytelling, I assume) and the perfect spot for the Electrical Water Pagent. Not a bad price at $29.99/per adult and $14.99 per child. I just downloaded the software today! It is really cool! I'm not sure of how much of it I'll use, but the chatroom on it is a really nice feature. I think that anyone can download the software. It doesn't require a magical gatherings conf. # to download it.

magical gatherings
:D thanks for everyones info on MG - we are a party of about 23 going in May and JOANN and I were just talking about checking out the MG info - it looks like all we have to do is download the site and get the info we will need - we have done large groups for the past 8-10 years with the kids - (youngest is now 21) they still love it. Maybe a better idea is to just party with the "kids" at pleasure island???? Oh what great memories we have - looked at all the videos on Thanksgiving Night - it was wonderful and had me and DH and kids ready to go now - I'm rambling now - again thanks for the info. :) ;) :) :D
