Heartfelt Thanks for the Military & Their Families

There are soooo many members of the military and their families that view this website that I felt like this was an appropriate place to let them know that so many of us include them and the challenging jobs they are facing in our Thanksgiving blessings. While many of us feel the challenges of preparing the perfect Thanksgiving meal, they face difficult situations on a much larger scale that may go underappreciated at times.

When we sit down to celebrate Thanksgiving, we will be thankful for the freedom that the military and their families are working so hard to protect. I hope that your visit to this site means you are planning a well-deserved family vacation where all of the magic envelopes you and yours. God bless and thank you...

Indeed, God Bless our heroes and their families for the sacrifices that they make to keep a complete stranger from losing their freedom. Thank you so much.

I concur. May God hold them in the palm of his hand and pour blessing on there families.

(We just found out last night that my brother-in-law will not be going to Iraq. He has just finished basic, two thirds of his training unit is shipping out to the region after Christmas. He will be continuing to specialized training in the states then hopefully be stationed in Germany [he is fluent in German] for the remainder of his tour. He said that he was looking forward to going to "the region" but he needs more schooling to be effective in his specialty.)

I want to thank all of our military for doing what they do, all over the world. Your families miss you as much as you miss them. Just remember, this will just be one more story to tell your grandkids.

I, too, would like to add my heartfelt thanks to these military members and their families. To the military men and women for putting their lives on the line to protect our country, and to the families who face the unknown day in and day out. God Bless you all, and thank you so much for the sacrifices that you have made.

I guess that we are not the only ones who wanted to thank the men nd women in Iraq for their service and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving.

President Bush made a surprise visit to the soldiers from the 1st Armored Division and the 82nd Airborne in Baghdad yesterday. Very few people knew about the visit, and wasn't even announced that he had been there until he was back in the air. The troops were told that a VIP guest would be joining them, but none thought the President would be that guest.

It began when President Bush left his home in an unmarked car wearing a baseball cap. He picked up two reporters and a few photographers at Andrews Air Force Base. They flew in a plane (not Air Force One), to Baghdad to meet the troops. He didn't make his appearance until L. Paul Bremer said that it was time to read the Presidents Thanksgiving Proclamation. He then asked if there was "anybody back there more senior than us" to read the President's words. That was when Pres. Bush emerged from a curtain and all the soldiers climbed on chairs and tables to yell their approval. The President shed a few tears and said," I was just looking for a warm meal somewhere. Thanks for inviting me to dinner." He was wearing an exersize jacket with a 1st Armored Division patch.

Bush worked the room and dished out sweet potatoes and corn form the chow line. He didn't sit down to eat the meal during his 2 1/2 hour visit. It was the first time a U.S. President visited the front-lines since President Nixon went to Vietnam in 1969.

The funny part of the whole thing is that since it was so secret, most U.S. officials and his family didn't know of his visit to Baghdad. He usually eats Thanksgiving dinner at his ranch in Crawford, Texas. So when his parent's got to the ranch, they were told that their son would not be attending dinner that night.

I think that it really meant a lot to the troops over there in Iraq, and show that Bush supports his men and women over in Iraq. I think that it was a great thing that President Bush did, and it will not soon be forgotten

How cool is it that our president can sneak out of the country and go to a war zone and nobody knows.
Good job troops and may God continue to bless you all.
