Sliding up to ask a video question... Slightley embarased for asking...
DA would you mind asking your husband what he would recommend getting in order to download analog (RCA) video output to my computer so that I can make home DVD's! My DW is a little upset that I have not made one family DVD yet... I got the DVD burner for Christmas.... LAST YEAR! However, now I need a way to get my video's to be digital! uhggggggggg

(RCA) Composite. Uh...looks like stereo jacks. I ask because I am assuming I must supply the Laserdisk Player. Unless USC kept their old one.
Also, MickeyRon, I suggest the TDK VC-2600UE USB 2.0 Video Capture Unit for about $200.00 or upgrade your video card to the ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9800 PRO128 MB 4X AGP Graphics Card for about $350.00 The TDK product being a stand alone unit (non intergrated) would be the most portable and adaptable from one PC to another and allows you to burn directly to a DVD without first storing the media on your hard drive. But the ATI ALL-IN-WONDER effectively gives you a TV set on your PC and a Digital VCR, plus all the video capture options AND is considered one of the best video cards in production today.. Now you know why I need Disney Anne's help. Either make one copy of my Laserdisc to DVD or fork out a couple hundred bucks for myself just before Xmas to do the same thing. My PC is 4 years old so I am trying to hold off purchasing such things until I can get a new PC. Now I have heard of another converter made by Belkin it is USB connected and will handle (RCA components) as well for about $75.00 but I understand the frame rate is limited to 30FPS and it could effect video quality. I am unfamiliar with the product but 30FPS isn't too bad depending on the source and transfer. I think I said too much...

PB-- I am glad you offered the information!! I was looking at a product called Dazzle... Do you know anything about that? I think I am going to go with the TDK product...
Now another question... I would like to make back up copies of my DVD's any suggestions for that?

DisneyAnne,
Then it looks like you will get the first look at SOS! Where can I drop off the Laserdisc and do you need my player? MickeyRon, You are talking about Pinnacle Studio MovieBox USB. Not Dazzle. I don't care if they are the same company, stay away from all the Dazzle products. The Pinnacle MovieBox has great software, and I understand they got together with Panasonic to help them with their audio. I like it OK but have never used the hardware. Same price for MovieBox ($200.00) Do not get Dazzle Fusion->. ($100.00) you get a lot less of everything. I saw the TDK VC-2600UE USB 2.0 Video Capture Unit for about $175.00 and free shipping at Amazon.com today. That ought to solve the guesswork.

Phantom... yes, we need the player... You can either bring it by my office at the Roundhouse on Rosewood or the stadium... of course that means you'll have to meet the hubby...
I will be leaving around 3 in the morning on Friday for New York and return to work on Wednesday. I am here from around 9ish until 6ish - just depends how quickly I am moving that day! ;) Do you still have my business card? You can call and let me know or just show up...

MickeyRon,
Copying DVD's of copyrighted commercial products is another subject entirely. None of the video capture devices we talked about package a software program that enables you to copy DVD to DVD. Mostly because you don't need any additional hardware other that the DVD writter itself. (It's all a software based decrypting process.) You have to decrypt the movie, (downloading it to your hard drive) then compress or rearrange the DVD content using a DVD copying program. Its involved but cheap (even free) the following links will help. http://www.cdfreaks.com/article/114/1 This link can help you find several useful programs that do these things. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/vi...e/dvd_rippers/

DisneyAnne,
OK, but lets do this after you return from New York. I will need to meet your husband. He may have some questions about the Laserdisc player.
