Remember Our Troops This Christmas Season

I just wanted to remind everyone to keep our Troops overseas in your thoughts and prayers this Christmas Season. I know at Christmas time we're all busy with our families and shopping and enjoying the holiday festivities, but there are many men and women who don't have that privilege this year. I also think about all of the children, and spouses who are without their loved ones this time of year. It breaks my heart and I Pray each day for a swift and peaceful end to all of this. Even though the war is technically over, we still have many who are losing their life and getting wounded everyday. So please stop and take a moment to remember these brave men and women and thank them for risking their lives in the name of duty.

Gofette:

Your so right. We live near McGuire AFB and Fort Dix and the kids from McGuire go to our regional HS. I hear stories everyday from my sons about Dads and Moms away from their families. There are many things we can do for them gift, cards but the most important is to continue to pray for their safe return home.

My brother is currently serving in the Army. He is stationed in Tikrit, Iraq. He has been there since April of this year. He will not be able to be home for the holidays this year. We mailed him a package, but it won't replace him being home.

Thanks to everyone who prays for all the troops we have around the world. I know that they are all greatly appreciated.

Happy Holidays!

My prayers and thoughts go out to you, your family and your brother. I can only imagine how awful it would be not to be with your loved ones for the Holidays, especially with where you know they are. I will pray for his safe and speedy return. Is there any news of when he'll come home?

In another month a loved one of mine is going over, he's in the Army also, and I can't hardly stand the thought of it. It hurts my heart everytime I think of it, and I know there are many people in my position who are going through the same thing. Thank God though we'll have him home for the Holidays, I'm very grateful for that.

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays!!!

I'm glad that everyone is remembering the troops this year and all,but I still feel bad that America as a nation treated the Vietnam veterans so shabbily. Franco54,I would just like to apologize for the country for any lousy treatment you and any other Vietnam vets might have gotten. You all deserved a lot better.

Thanks for the thoughts. My brother will hopefully be home at the end of March. There is also a chance he will be home for leave in mid to late January. We are keeping our fingers crossed.

My thoughts and prayers are definitely with the military men and women serving not only in Iraq but around the world, and won't be able to be home for the holidays. My sisters husband is currently in Iraq, and my cousin is stationed in California and will be sent back to Iraq in early January along with a family friend. So they won't be home for the holidays. I pray for them every day, along with our president.

Very Well Said. I agree completely. No matter what stand anyone has on any war they should always support the Troops who have given so much of themselves. It literally brings tears to my eyes to hear the stories of how awful America treated the Vietnam Veterans. I don't know if I missed a post, but I noticed you said to Franco54...is there something posted someplace that I should read? I looked back through this post and didn't see something. I miss so many threads so if there is something posted can someone link me? Thanks!

That's true Joe, we should remember all our troops stationed all over. They're all willing to make the ultimate sacrifice and none of them should be forgotten. I will keep your sisters husband in my thoughts and prayers.

Teresa that is an excellent idea. I am disappointed to not hear much about service men and women this holiday season. I was trying to find out where I could go to donate items to send over, and I had a really hard time finding any information. At the start of the war there were all kinds of radio stations and tv stations giving information out. It just feels like to me that a lot of them have been forgotten since the "war" is "technically" over. And like Joe said, not just the military personnel in Iraq but those stationed all over, in places none of us would ever want to go.
