DH torpedoes birthday plans!!!

My DH is turning 40 right after Christmas. I always like to mark the big ones with something special so I checked out prices and decided the following would be a great 40th present. His BD is Jan 2nd and since that's a holiday weekend I deciced on the following weekend.

Friday Jan 9, 2004 Fly out of Philly at 8:50 arrive in orlando and have Towncar pick us up and take us to Yacht Club

Spend a quiet day relaxing or take in a park his choice

Saturday, Jan 10, 2004 He would spend most of the day at the Richard Petty driving experience and then a birthday dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse

Sunday, Jan 11, 2004

Spend the day doing a park or whatever he wanted and we'd fly out of orlando at 8:45 and be in Philly and home by 12am.

but.......

Mr. I don't like surprises doesn't want to go .... I was so disappointed (so he's in the doghouse now)

I could understand if money was an object (don't get me wrong we don't burn it here) but it's not - he simply doesn't want to travel back so soon after our vacation. But this would be without the kids and I think a totally different experience for us.

Hey all you DC guys or girls what would you want for you 40th be honest I can take it. Am I totally off the mark here. I thought it was a great idea he loves nascar and Yachtsman is one of his favorite all time restuarants.

Help!!!

Paula

Honestly, I love going to WDW and that would be a great 40th present. Another suggestion is, does he like Atalntic City? You don't even have to like to gamlble to have a great time in these beautiful and very romantic hotels. My BF and I go every two years for New Year's Eve and we barely gamble. It's a good time and you are treated well. just another suggestion for him.

I would rather go to WDW...one weekend to pick and choose what I want to do at WDW sounds like a dream. Sorry your plans got smushed. Maybe he will change his mind. Why not just ask him what he'd like to do that weekend?

I say kiddnap him and away you go, I don't think anyone can stay mad once they are there. I've planned my 50th and WDW is where I will be.

I did ask him and he really didn't have anywhere he wanted to go. he's been everywhere. I thought about Atlantic City it's only one hour away. I called the new one (the Borgada sp) they wanted 450.00 for a room. I just thought to be alone it be great to really get away and do something we couln't do any old weekend. Thanks for the suggestion.

$450 a room? Holy Pooh! That's ridiculous. Just kidnapp him then and MAKE him go to WDW...for $450 you could get so much more out of WDW. If he doesn't want to go anywhere, plan him a huge surpirse party. That's always fun too. Just plan it on Main Street and you got yourself a deal...:hmmm

Look, if he won't go, I will. I am a lot of fun and we would have a great time. I am also flexable, I'll let you pick the activities.

Paula,
Funny you should ask this now. I will be turning 40 :( at the beginning of October, and that is exactly what I told DH I wanted for my birthday! I can't stand the idea of turning 40 to begin with, but I figured if he and I went to WDW, just the two of us, maybe turning 40 wouldn't be so bad if I was in WDW. (Keep your fingers crossed. At least he hasn't said no! :)

Paula:
I was going to volunteer to fill in as well, but, LOL, I can see you have already heard from many and better voluteers, so I'll just throw my 2 cents in. My kids are grown and gone. I have taken them to WDW several times and we had an absolute blast. DW and I have since made several trips with just the two of us. Those have been a blast, as well. Just a different kind of fun.

We can go places that aren't what kids would like to do, like Pleasure Island and touring the Resorts (I only tried that once with kids).

Doing shopping (or looking) at Downtown Disney without kids has got to be experienced to be believed.

There are restaurants that my kids didn't appreciate that DW and I just love. The list goes on and on. Its all great; just different.

I hope this helps. Oh, and if none of the above volunteers works out, I would certainly help out.;) :D
Ron:)
