Those dreaded strollers and the little whinners in them!!!!!!
These things are a pain in the backside!!! I bet that there is only one or two legit users in ten. And for them, I will gladly move aside. But there are LOTS of too old, too bratty, to spoiled, dirty, crying little jerks being wheeled around like they are little gods!!! And they are being pushed around by mommies and daddies that think we all should clear a path, like the parting of the seas for thier precious little whinners!!! I was brought up to have manners and my Mom would kick my butt if I didn't use them. Nowadays manners are few and far bewteen. And so, I will not be intimidated when little snotty Johnny and his mommy and daddy what me to get out of his/hers way!!! That is right! I have put my foot down!! Hopefully not on little Johnny!! :D :D :p :p :( :( :dazed :dazed

Hope you weren't the person who stole my son's sippy cup outside of Hall of Presidents. :laugh
I understand your complaint, apparently you had a few bad run ins with this topic recently. Hopefully I am not one of those parents, I always feel like I am taking up too much of everyone elses space when I use a stoller.

That's okay, I hate ankle rammers in general, whether it is a stroller, a wheelchair, people with large swinging bags, or people who use their children as battering rams in a crowd.
That said, I am a member of the stroller brigade. BUT I do NOT ram my son into people. To me, why put my child in danger's path. My DH usually goes in front of us so he can try to make a path to get through. And as long as we are complaining, maybe the ankle rammers can set their sites on the people who insist on smoking in the non-designated areas like right near the exit to Small World. Blowing smoke on a baby is NOT cool.

Franco -
I can understand your point and opinion. I used a stroller for my DD when she was six and at the age where it wasn't really necessary. I used a stroller because the parks were very, very crowded and I was afraid to lose her. I also used it because she just couldn't walk all those miles on those little legs. As for the rammers, I too have encountered them and have no problem with saying, "excuse me" in a mocking tone when hit with one. I have a bigger issue with the people who stop walking anywhere and everywhere in the middle of walkways. While walking in the parks, you are suppose to use the same concept of driving. Left side one way, right side the other way and if you must look at you map or in you industrial size handbag, move aside. I have NO problem accidently ramming these ignorant people. Try stopping a coach with a heavy child on a dime because someone doesn't have the courtesy to move aside and look at their map. About the manners, I am as baffled as you. I demand my daughter say please and thank you and hold the doors for people etc. I don't know what she does when I am not there, but I have yet to see her forget to do any of the above. There are no excuses for being rude...cranky well you can't stop kids from that..their kids after all.:laugh I can get a little on the cranky side and have had a tantrum or two when I didn't get to see spectro last trip. Take a stand Franco. I wouldn't move out of the way either if I was walking in the same direction......A simple excuse me works wonders in that department. When I used a coach and someone was blocking it's path, I simply said "excuse us please" with a smile.

We also put DGD in a stroller at 6 because we would never have made it without it. The heat, the crowds, and the sheer exhaustion would have reduced out trip to a crying fit before long. I always tried to be very careful as I too hate being hit from behind. In extreme crowds it is hard to know when someone in front of you is going to stop. People with strollers should be very careful but in such conditions we all have to watch it!
;) I don't see why anyone with a stroller would expect you to move for them, they have to go with the flow just like we all do at DW.

ok ..I thought .. I shouldnt say nothing here ..but I do agree with MickeyMac .. and Dana also.
We did let our DGD ride in strollers till they were around 6 or 7.. but like Dana said ..our main reason for this was so we knew where they were in those huge crowds. We always did our best not to run over anyone. And Dana like you said .. my DH believes the rules for walking should follow the rules of driving ..lol but that only works for those of us that drive on the right side of the road :) and we all know that not everyone does this .. I avoid stopping in the middle of any place ..this includes in stores .. if I must stop then I get to the side or as much out of the way as I possibily can. My feet have been run over by strollers and by wheelchairs and even those scooters. ( my own DH run over them twice this past august at WDW) .. I dont believe when I have been run over that the person that did it ..was doing it on purpose.. I believe it was an accident.. always give the benefit of the doubt :) So really I do not take Franco54's comments personally .. we often joke about being on the look out for "killer strollers" and we did so even back when we were at the controls of "killer strollers". tolerance .. thats all that is needed to make this world a better place ..be tolerant of others :)

I am one of those stroller pushers of a child too old to ride in a stroller. My DS was 5 during our trip in July and he rode in a stroller the whole week. His little legs just wouldn't carry him from 7 am to 10 pm even though we took a break at our resort every afternoon. It was hot and pretty crowded and I was scared to death I would lose him and that was just not something I was willing to face. When he was in his stroller I knew where he was at all times. I do not look at as being "too old, too bratty, to spoiled, dirty, crying little jerks being wheeled around like they are little gods!!!" He is a nice little boy and if riding in a stroller made his trip better so be it.
I do not judge people who wear ugly shirts to the park or buy the stupid bobble head Disney sports figures so please let me push my child around in a stroller with out thinking he is a bratty, spoiled, dirty, crying little jerk. I was at WDW for 8 days and was never run into with a stroller nor did I ram into another person with mine. I am sorry, I just can't agree with you on this issue. Every family is different and we cannot judge others, it's just not our place. Those bratty little kids are special little people. Okay, I am off my soap box now.

I'll take pride in the fact my Chic Bantam (4.5 yrs old) walked the whole way and our carrying bag was Mrs Bantam's fanny pack.
I will only go to Disney in the off season though. Me and crowds don't mix too well. I have, however, seen both sides of the issue. And if you don't think a comment applies to you, your child, or your circumstance then there is no need to refute it. I mean....It doesn't apply right?

I am not the Grinch!!!
First of all, Aye Carumba!!!!Most of it 85%? of my comments were tongue and cheek. I think the only mistake I made is with the number out of ten, it is less than I thought. And before you think I am ripping thoughts of Mickey out of little Johnny's head is there not room for kids of all ages in the parks? Granted it's alot easier for all the family to put kids in the strollers but lets get out of saying its a long day for Sally to endure the rigors of Disney World. Once again, the ones who need the ride should have the ride. But come on people, fess up, we all have seen the kids I am talking about. The ones who are being pushed to the buffet line, pushed to the parks, pushed to the burgers, and then put in front of the video games at the end of the day. My My what a long day for Johnny! My own number of kids, older than yours are have thier own kids and I have seven grandkids and I love them all, but some of them won't be on the cover of "Nice kids of America". My present family, wife and two stepsons 12 and 9 are my heart and soul. But, I spoil them rotten. But with all thier games and such they also know its us who are in charge. So, in summary, I am not the grinch, yes, I am an old time veteran with not alot of patience but I stand by "Most" of my comments. And before you all think I live by the rod, think again, As far as I recall, my own boy was the only boy that ever was hit on the backside by dad once in the early 80's. So, go to the parks and have a great time, I will too and I will not take my HIT LIST!!!! :D :D :D :D

Oh my! You go boy! I only was giving another side. I agree with getting hit and all that jazz but was explainging why I pushed my daughter at a late age is all. I know the ones you are talking about...thre is not need to get pushed in a stroller in the buffet line too....
Phantom - Wow...strong words.

Well, I'm not saying you are the Grinch (I understand the post).
But even the Grinch and Scrooge both became the most loved people in town in the end. :laugh :D Phantom, it's a viscous cycle. When you make a comment such as this... everyone's inner guilt comes out to play. :D I don't think anyone is 100% innocent. It's just the degree of guiltiness that makes what you do acceptable or not. :p

Phantom is right too ...we should not feel we must defend what we do, but like the others I think I just wanted to explain--- not really defend. Actually the only bratty kids I have ever experienced at WDW (besides my neice) were in their teens and really those experiences were not often enough to cause me to be very upset about them.
