Before I begin let me start by saying "Sorry this is so long."

I don't know where to begin with this as I am at a loss for words right now. (Yeah, right most of you are saying right now, I know!)

I had a truly rotten day today, my DS was sick most of the weekend with a fever and cough. He stayed home with his dad today to rest (103 temp) and "play loud games" while I went to school. I now wish I had stayed home, I had my worst day of the year today. I was YELLED at and then hung up on by an anrgy parent who now blames me for all of her DS's problems in life. He hasn't passed science in 3 years but all of the sudden it is my fault even though I hadn't met the kid until this year. At least she didn't cuss at me like she did a few weeks ago.

Now to my point........My DH left about 6 pm for his basketball game only to find a package on our door step addressed to my DS. He came in and asked me who "Dana" was. I told him a friend from DC. He then showed me the package for Nate. Dana mailed my DS a present!!! I am still waiting to see what is in the box, Nate had already fallen asleep because of his fever. I can't wait to see his excitement tomorrow when he opens his present.

Dana, I don't even know how to begin to thank you. You made a really bad day end so nicely, you are my angel today.

I am so amazed at the friendships that I have developed here on DC in the last year.

I don't know what else to say but thank you for thinking of my son.

I am sorry as a parent that you got yelled at by another parent. I realize that the job teachers do is sometimes thankless, but you touch so many more lives in a good way-That one parent was not speaking for the rest of the parents in your class--always remember that those grouch-a-holics are in the minority!!

As for Miss Dana--she is a DisneyGem! I am so glad she could help your DS feel better!:love:

Oh DT, how awful to get yelled at by a parent! :cry: It is one thing to be yelled at by a customer you might only see once, but in your case this is someone you will have to deal with for at least the rest of the year. I will pray for you in this situation.

I can't wait to hear your son's reaction! He is going to be floored by the note. He has had such a rough year and a little to much bad luck for my taste. The "gift" was to *make* him have a good luck day. He sounds like such a sweet boy and it was truely an honor to make his day.

Nate just opened his gift from "Mickey". He was so excited!! I read him the note and asked him how he rated, his reply " I am good, mom." His answer to why I don't get postcards and presents from my favorite characters-"you get me in trouble, mom." hmmm.....now I am to blame for all his problems too???:D

Dana, thank you for making Nate sick day the best it could be! He loved the snow globe and said he would pick the perfect spot for it when he got up today. I can't wait to see the perfect spot.

It is now my turn to pass it on. I hope I can live up to Dana!!

Sending pixie dust your way. Your are in one of the most noble profession. You shape and guide young people minds and teach them to become better people. You need to look at the big picture and the many children and sucesses you have had over your career.

I always share this with my son teachers when I go to conferences. When they tell me how great a student my sons are or praise them academically. I simply say I'd love to take credit for all (their) successes but it's been a team efforts and they've have been blessed with many wonderful teachers throughout their school career. Thank you too, together we've done a wonderful job. They appreciate it and I think we don't tell our teacher enough how we appreciate them.

This lady is probably in a bad place and instead of being honest and taking responsibility for her shortcomings and her responsibity regarding her son's problems you've become her target to blame. I know it's hard not to but don't take it personally - you know your a fine teacher

oh steph yes teachers do have it bad sometimes and what I have seen its been from Parents who really dont care to help their child as Paula said its probably someone who doesnt want to face the fact that the kid needs help at home also !!! I hope Nate feels better sending him pixie dust to help him along !!!

I just want to say THANK YOU for being a teacher, I don't know how any teachers do it!!:dazed I could not do your job to save my life, I go on Fridays to "help" the teachers copy (copymom) for the following week, I am very happy to do it, so the teacher can spend more time teaching my kid (along with the other kids) I am a mother, I can teach manners, tying shoes and ABC's and morals but I will leave the teaching to the pro's I cannot tell you how much I, as a parent, appreciate my childrens teachers!!! parents can get angry all they want at the teacher because they don't want to think it's them that might be the problem, now in defense of parents, there are some teachers who don't really care, I have not met any in our school district, New Lenox district 122 We are a BLUE RIBBON SCHOOL and it shows with our teachers and students!!!!
