Long sad night, could use some pixie dust

It's been a long, sad night. My grandma passed away last night. I know she is not suffering anymore and is in a better place. She is with our Father in heaven but the selfish part of me misses her. She has suffered much for the last 2 years. First one then the other of her legs had to be removed. She has had many infections, heart problems and so much more. I don't know what the next few days will be like. I am working today, but may not be here Thursday or Friday. Plus I have to be here Saturday evening for our Christmas Service drama, I am helping direct it. The actual service is Sunday morning. DH is trying to get his load changed and come home early. He is in OK right now, headed for Nebraska. Thanks for listening to me. Kind of a mixed emotion going on right now. Plus only about 3 hours sleep.

It is okay to miss your grandma even though she is in heaven... she is not here with you and God made us with feelings... mourning is part of that...

I am so sorry for your lose. I hope that your husband is able to make it home sooner. There is no easy way thru your feelings. Even knowing that she is in a better place doesn't seem to help. You and your family are in our prayers.

I am so sorry. I dont know why it seems that loved ones pass away at the Holidays. I lost my Father 3 years ago at Thanksgiving. This is a tough time of the year.

Thanks everyone. I have been reflecting on how much she influenced my life and what it might be like if I had not had her for a grandma. She had a long, wonderful, full life. She was 86, almost 87, years young! She saw so many changes in her life, 2 world wars, man walking on the moon...so many. She wanted to live long enough to see the turn of the century, and she did. She had 8 children, 23 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. At least that's what we counted last night. She was dearly loved by each one of them. She was surrounded by many of them as we let her go to her eternal home. What joy and comfort it is knowing she is in the presence of the Lord now. Again, thank you for your prayers and thoughts.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. It's always tough to lose a family member, but it always seems more difficult around the holidays. You are right. She is in a better place and not suffering anymore, but that thought sometimes isn't enough to ease your suffering or help you from missing her. PM me anytime. I am here for you anytime you want to chat. You and your family will be in my thoghts and prayers. You aren't being selfish by wanting her here. You miss her and that is to be expected. I know it doesn't seem like it, but over time this horrible pain in your heart will become a dull ache and you will remember her with a smile. My Pop died 6 years ago and I still miss him like it was yesterday. It doesn't hurt as bad, but I will always miss him. He was a great man and I loved him dearly. Again, I am so sorry for your loss and urge you to lean on all of us at DC. That's what we are hear for.
