DisneyCentral Birthday Club
Gosh, I want to send something to someone now. :D All these super sweet Disney friends keep surprising everyone. I found the Christmas Card thread very late, but it got me thinking...
Maybe we could start a Disney Central kids birthday club or something. I have no idea how to organize something like this, but my idea is when a members kids birthday is coming up, someone or a group could elect to send a DisneyCentral birthday gift, and optionally others could send cards. Maybe we could even have some unofficial Disneycentral items to send like a Birthday Certificate or sticker, or a special web page with their picture in a Walt Disney World scene or something (changing depending on who's Birthday it is). I had this idea today with a Secret Santa gift giving in mind, but since it's too late for Christmas, the Birthdays seemed the next best idea. I thought our kids would be the best candidates, but we would need to know age, gender, and addresses. Well, just had to get the idea out there to see what others thought. Maybe the idea is getting too personal, but it could be wonderful also. I have a Disney girl gift at home right now. (We go to the Disney store a lot and clean up when items go on clearance. If an item is a good find, I usually buy it even if we can't use it. When Birthdays and things come up, we just sort through our stash. :laugh Since I have a little boy, the girl things are never used by us.) Please share any comments, suggestions, and/or help. ![]()

We should swap families. Each being responsible for one child and when a special day comes...birthdays..good report card..etc...we could send something.(cards..words of encouragement etc.) Kinda like a long distance fairy godmother/father. It will be so awesome. I will gladly coordinate this. We could work it just like the ornament exchange. i could PM who gets who and then you can contact the parents for all of the paticulars (age, gender, birthday, interests etc.) Let me know your thoughts.

Looks like I found this site just at the right time... when all the fun stuff is starting up!!
However, let's keep in mind we need to have a way for new members to join in on the fun!! I don't know how we would go about doing that... maybe same rule as shuffle and then do it like companies do it for benefits... once a year enrollement????

You really don't need to have a child to be included. A lot of Dcers have more than one child. It's about giving the kids some fun right? The shuffle was everyone who wanted in posted to include them in the shuffle. They had a certain date to post by. Then Anne gave each Dcer another Dcer's name.

I love this idea!! I would love to help out with designing/creating a birthday certificate or sticker or such...if we still want to do that. I work in a print shop, as you may remember, so I have a lot of resources at my fingertips and like to do a little graphic design...:D

My DBIL and DSIL don't have any kids so I get their doggies presents like they're the kids. So you and Richard can be our big kids (Peterpan and Wendy). Afterall none of us ever wants to grow up do we? Paula Maybe and this is just a thought we could do cards for the adults and little gifts for the kids. We'd have to swap say family of five to a family of five if possible. Couples with no kids or emptynester could be swapped with each other so they could do gifts for each other. Just thinking out loud and sure someone will come up with a good plan.

Yes, I agree and meant to post that those without kids should become "big Kids". It is very fair and what I would want and expect to be done really.
I think the family swap idea is good, but may not have the kids or Volunteers best interest. Eventually all the Disney Veterans will have alternate veteran families, but the newbies will be stuck with newbies. Here's a little more on my thoughts... maybe we can combine all the ideas eventually. 1. Have a running chart of all the birthdays. I could maintain a chart and let everyone know when another birthday is up. 2. When one is coming up, one of us volunteers to be the gift giver for that time. 2. Each gift giver can only volunteer a set amount of times per year. 3. Only kids of other participating members are included (unless extreme circumstances apply). If no kids are in your family then the member becomes the special birthday club member for that family or can elect another member of their family for that year. 4. Never give to same child two years in a row (I think this mixes things up better and keeps it exciting and a unique experience every time for the child). Thoughts - Maybe instead of sending physical cards, they could get Birthday e-cards from the other members not giving the gift. I still think a certificate and sticker packet is a great idea and hopefully Mickey will get with dznygrl and come up with some kind of cool packet. I like the Jan. 1 and July 1 sign up dates. But, I think the member needs to be established at DC (so many posts under their belt and been here a certain amount of time) We need to see how many kids vs. how many members, then figure out how many kids would be selected per Birthday Club volunteer. (Ex. If there are 10 Birthday Club Members and 5 Birthday Club Volunteers, then the volunteers would need to surprise 2 Birthday Members in that year) We need to establish a price range. Should all gifts be Disney? I am leaning toward yes. I am so happy everyone is feeling the same way I did about this... it's a physical way to share the fun and friendliness that we have come to expect at DC in the true spirit of Disney.:)
