Pixie dust for me please !!!!

Last night I went with Dh shopping I left and thought the front door was closed. We didnt know something is wrong with the door and it doesnt close unless you lock it and my mom and sister was home. When we got home my sister told me they had to lock the door because my cat shakespear got out ( we have alot of stray cats in the neighborhood). Well he got into a fight with one of them and My sister and mom ran when they heard the screeching and he ran back in the house I saw one little scratch on him but everytime I touch his back he cries , He wont even eat ( he usually goes after wet food in the morning ) actually he wont even leave my room . He is not acting like himself .I am so worried about my shakespear .

Cheryl:

I hope Shakespear is feeling better soon. Cat bites and scratches can be the worst (I did a stint in a Vet office during my college days). I hope there is nothing serious wrong, hopefully he's just under the weather today. Sending pixie dust your way that your sweet kitty is feeling better soon!!! Keep us posted.

Must have been a bad day yesterday someone hit my DBIL mastiff and he has a broken leg. They hit him and just let me lying there. I can't fathom being so cruel to an animal. I tried to tell myself they didn't know they hit him. However, he's huge and that's hard to believe. Anyway he's sporting a purple leg cast and he's doing just fine.

Paula

Hope Shakespeare is feeling better. As a precaution I would take him to the vet just for a look. Cat bites and scratches can become infected very quickly. I've gone through this myself several times in the past 20 years we've owned cats. The aggressive cat will always try to attack the back or tail, as that's the most vulnerable part. Rest assured that he will make a full recovery, but have him checked for your own peace of mind. The vet will probably put him on an antibiotic just in case.

Paula - I can't believe the callousness of people. Actually - it's criminal to leave an injured animal. Hope he's making a full recovery and the creep who hit him only gets coal in his stocking this year.

I agree with jmouse, a trip to the vet is in order. We had our cat Friskey for 15 years and I know the worry that you feel. Hope he is better today!

Cheryl -

Sorry about your cat. I would definately take him to a vet ASAP. You will not be able to get an appointment the closer you get to the holidays. Hope he is feeling better soon.

heres the update : Shakespear had a low grade fever the doctor kept him to bathe him in an medicated bath because they found one scatch on the back plus three puncture wounds no wonder he cried when i held him . They gave him antibotics and a pain shot and we have to give him the antibotics for the next week . They said that we have to watch to make sure they dont absess and also in 30-60 days is when we can get a blood test to make sure he didnt catch any diseases from this cat When we got shakes home he hiss and went to hit my sisters cat he is afraid of other cats now hopefully that will pass

sending lots and lots of pixie dust .. I do hope he will be ok. Its so easy to love a pet deeply and to worry over them just as you do a human. I hope that Shakespear is going to be ok, at least you got him to the vet and they can head off anything he may have gotten from another cat.

I'm glad Shakespeare is home. I'm sure he's traumatized, but that will probably wear off as he begins to feel better. I'm sure he will make a complete recovery. We've gone through this 3 times with one of our cats (he's a lover, not a fighter), and each time, after a treatment of antibiotics, he's been fine. The REAL problem is getting that pill down their throats!:laugh (my friend's cat - also Shakespeare - sends his love).
