Farewell Disney Club!

It's hard to believe that The Disney Club will be eliminated in just a few days. No more perks, no more newsletters, no more discounts. **Heavy sigh**

I guess nothing stays the same. I've been a member of this club for several years. Back when it was the Magic Kingdom Club.

Does anybody else remember this?

PS - This is the very first thread I've ever started!

Oh yes. I had a Magic Kingdom Card. :)

Well, I moved on to the Disney Visa. Not quite the same and doesn't make you feel like you are in on a secret as much, but I do get lots of compliments when I pull it out, and it does offer some special perks so it will have to do for now.

I, too, will greatly miss the card. Farewell.

Yep, we were Magic Kingdom Club members. When we bought into the DVC we got all the same perks, so we didn't renew our membership in the MKC. I know they say change is good, but there seems to be so much change going on now at WDW... it leaves me a little sad.

We gave ours one last hurrah a couple of weeks ago at WDW. I will be sad to see it go too.

I think it is sad the Disney Club is gone. Even though I am a member of the Disney Vacation Club (the timeshare program), I still had a membership in the Disney Club. My membership expired in February.

I enjoyed it because of the magazine, which I now have a paid subscription to.

I will still enjoy many perks offered by the Disney Vacation Club (DVC), but I will certainly be the first to sign-up if they bring the Disney Club back.

Just a reminder folks, if you plan on getting Annual Passes, you can get the vouchers at the Disney Store before the end of the year and get a good discount on them (one of the only discounts available on the AP's)

Give your Disney Club card one last hurrah! :D

I was once a Magic Kingdom Club member thanks to a work related affiliation. We were afforded some pretty nice discounts over the years. I remember especially steep discounts in the mid- 90's for the water parks and Pleasure Island.
When it turned into the Disney Club, I couldn't see justification in paying for it, since at the time, I had actually taken a break from visiting WDW as much as I had previously. Wish I had kept it up, as it would have saved some major dough in the past two years.
However, maybe the Disney Visa will prove to be an effective replacement. They've managed to make it feel a little bit more like a "club" than the average credit card, I think.

Congrats on your first thread there, CaptGoodGuy! ;) Nice job...

I also had the MKC.... loved the idea that I had something exclusive that not everyone else knew about. My Disney Club card runs until the 31st but I no longer have a Disney Store anywhere nearby...

I don't know if I can bear to remove it from my wallet....

Thanks DisneyAnne!

We started off with the company group card and then upgraded to the Gold Card. It used to be worth the expense with the money we saved at the Disney Store, buying the AP's and the shopping at DTD.

I can't remember where so it may not be true, but I heard somewhere that the MK Club was one of Walt's ideas.

Yep, we have been Magic Kingdom Club members even before I became a Disneyholic. My DW had the membership since before we were married (May 1990). It is really sad that the Club will be no more, but (he says sarcastically) at least there is the Disney credit card.:(

I understand what you mean goofyguy1958.

We chose not to get the Disney Credit Card. It doesn't seem like there are that many perks and most of the posts from the people who have them have not been positive enough to convince me to get one.

We were old Magic Kingdom Club members .. I still have the Keychain on my keys in fact. I didnt need another credit card, so I didnt bother with getting the Disney Credit card. The Magic slowly leaked out of being in the MKC during the past 5 years ..it really seemed that lots of the discounts dried up when it became the Disney club.
I dont have a disney store any where near me either or I would go get those AP's before the month is gone.

p.s. congrads on your first thread Captgoodguy, a good topic too :)

For what it is worth, I sent Disney Club Guest Services an e-mail(guest.mail@disneyclub.com) this morning. I realy liked the Disney Club, and hate to see it go.

****************************************
Dear Disney Club:
I am writing to express my great displeasure with the Disney Club closing down. I have been a very happy member since its creation as well as being a Magic Kingdom Club member prior to being a Disney Club member. I have enjoyed numerous benefits that the Disney Club has offered over the years. I really would like to request that the Walt Disney Company reconsider their decision to close the Disney Club, or to create a new similar club to replace it.
I have opened a Bank One Disney Credit Card, and as of yet I have not been offered any of the benefits that I utilized with the Disney Club. In particular, discounts on tickets, discounts at the Disney Store, discounts at restaurants, and access to the 1-800 reservation numbers. All I have received from the Bank One Disney card are gimmicks and vacation packages to entice me to charge more to the credit card.
I am a great fan of Disney World, and like to go with my family as often as I financially can, but now that the benefits and discounts that were offered to me via the Disney Club have vanished, I will have to pursue alternative vacation options for me and my family of five where I am offered discounts elsewhere.
In conclusion I would like to thank all the Disney Club Cast Members for the expert service over the years, and wish all of them good luck on their future endeavors, as well as happy holidays.

Regards

I wanted to send snail mail, but I looked through all my old Disney Club papers and could not find a mailing address, Oh well.

Farewell Disney Club.
