? about FL Resident Seasonal Pass

I'm thinking about downgrading from our AP's this year, and just getting Fl Res Seasonal Passes. It basically blacks out 2 weeks in April, Mid June to Mid August, Dec 18-Jan 1st. Since my ds can't handle the heat well, this should be just fine for us. Although I'm a bit nervous about not being able to go at *all* for the whole summer:nervous . My main question, is can i still get AP discounted rates?? mainly i'm worried about AP Room Discounts. I know you do not get free parking with the seasonal passes, but I'm hoping thats the only main difference.

Is there anyone out there who has the seasonal passes that has used them for a room discount??

Thanks guys and gals!!

We are in the same boat!! My mom and I are wondering whether or not we should buy Seasonal Passes as well. We would use them for the Meet and Greet and any other trips we want to go during the non-blackout dates. Im alittle scared about not being able to go to Disney during the summer, which is probably when I'll be itching to go the most but if we can get a discounted hotel room wit the Seasonal Passes they might still be worth it. Anyone know if you can get the same discounts as AP holders but with the SP?
Joe:)

Last year we stayed at WDW in February and April and we were able to get the AP room discounts both times. Our passes run out on 2/2/04 so we are in trying to justify renewing the passes ourselves right now. We are planning on at least 2 day trips this month just in case we cannot justify the expense.

Thank you gcbdad! Thats what i was hoping for. I still have to decide if we are going to get the passes this year or not, but I just dont think I could *not* get them! Now that I know that we can get the AP rates I think we will. I just read your other post about making your decision, and saw that you posted the renewal rates. That was going to be my next question. I thought you got a slight discount if you renewed. I wonder if i "downgrade" if i still get that discount?

Good luck on your decision. I know its a hard one. That big pay out of money is a hard thing to do. BUt just think if you would pay out that amount a few times a year anyways if you were going to go. This is a time that I wish that Disney had a ezpay type payment set up like Busch Gardens!!

Yes,wouldn't that be nice if we could pay a little amount each month rather than the entire amount at once? As it is,when I renew this year,my mother will put it on her credit card and by the time the bill comes due I will have gotten my income tax refund check.

You know I wasn' even aware of the ezpay system that Busch Gardens has. I am going to look into it right away. It's hard to believe that a Anheiser Busch park has something better thatn a Disney park.

Yes, my income tax is paying for my disney passes this year. Seasonal is the way I am going to go this year! That will give us a chance to do other things during the summer, like maybe use our Busch Gardens passes that we haven't used in awhile.

I love the ezpay system. I get $ taken out of my account each month for a 2 year pass for my son and I! Its great! If you ever had the pass for FL where you paid one day and got to go the rest of the year for free, then you can upgrade online! Its really easy!!

Do you mean if we ever had a Fun Pass, even if it was 2 years ago, I can do this online?

I have always had the seasonal pass. We thought about an upgrade to AP but we really try to avoid the really crowded times of the year, which seem to be those blackout dates:D
Anyway, we always got the reduced rates at resorts as well as other discount perks. Parking has never been a problem because we stay on site.

I always renewed when my passes expired (in mid Dec) to get the discount. But one year I realized we wouldn't be going to WDW till April and that was 4 months of wasted pass - all for a $25 discount. So now I renew on the trip that follows the expiration. This was several years ago, and I don't know if renewal rules have changed.

I just received a notice from Disney about the renewal and they are pushing the fact that I will not get the renewal discount unless I do it before our renewal date. The discount is about $25.00 each but it totals around $125.00 for the 5 of us.

Hmmm...that I dont know about. I know we had the Fun Pass for 2 years in a row, and just went online when the other one was about to expire and renewed. I think you might have to have a current one to do this online. IT wouldn't hurt to look it up online. You would have to have your cards still to get the # off of them.

Thanks sandav1. It's good to know that we will still get the discounts. Parking would be an issue for us, since some of the time we would be driving up for day trips. Its not that big of a deal to me, since we would still be saving money when we stay on site!
