The Problem with Disney Resorts

Now many of you are thinking... Disney resorts are perfect. They give the right amount of theme and perks for each price level. they are staffed by some of the best. The food and rooms are Fantastic to adequate. What on earth could be the problem?

Well... I can't decide which one to stay at!!! One day I think I would like to return to Wilderness Lodge. The next day I think Pop Century and have more money for other things. The next day I think Boardwalk or Contemporary for park advantages and other little extras. Today I read about the cabins and think Home away from home sounds so cool. Another day it's Villas, another the Poly, another the Port Orleans Riverside.

I don't think I'm alone in this problem? I just can't decide what resort I want on my next trip. I say Pop in my countdown, but I just really don't know.

It's a wonderful problem to have, but I will have to decide sooner or later. :dazed

Oh heck, that's an easy problem to solve. You just have to stay at all of them!

We stayed at all the different EPCOT resorts while I was still going to a work related convention there. The last couple of trips have been on my own nickle and we have been trying different resorts. Since I will have a chance to save a bit before our next trip it will be either WL or the Poly! Then when we win the lottery it will be top of the flight room at the Grand Floridian! ! !!

Sure, the ultimate goal is to try them all... but how to decide for the next trip is the problem.

I think I have talked my wife into one or two nights at a Deluxe, and the rest of the trip at another resort.

I love this decision. I love to pick!!! Stay a few nights at Pop and then transfer to WL. The WL is such a site!! What a way to give you a mid-trip "wow". You have to pick and then tell yourself that you will have to leave the others for your other trips. I stay at a different resort each trip and love the new experience and magic each one brings. You could do it another way and just put the names of all the resorts you are thinking about in a hat, pull one and that's where you are staying!

I have to agree with Dana, if you really can't decide where to stay try two different resorts. Try PC for a couple of days then go over to WL. We fell so in love with WL I may never stay at another resort. You just need to plan another trip ASAP so you can tell yourself that you will stay in 2 of your top 4 on that trip.

Isn't is hard to have such tough decisions to make????

I agree with Dana, you have made a wise choice. I would suggest doing the WL, or AKL or whichever deluxe you choose last, so you have something to look forward to, and you aren't wishing you had stayed at WL the whole time, since you downgraded after two nights.

I am working my way through the resorts with the goal to stay in them all. Since we are frequent visitors, we save the moderate/deluxe for special occasions. Oct. 04 will be DH 40th birthday and our 5th Anniversary. I have started collecting loose change, and sticking "found" money in a seperate bank account. Even though he has hinted AKL since it is his favorite, my goal is Poly/GF/WL any of these would be a surprise for him.

We will do the new Pop in Feb. so there is one more out of the way.

How about an old fashioned game of spin the bottle to decide.

I sure know the feeling.
This year "money" made our decision.
Otherwise I'd be going NUTS as to which resort to stay at!!!

Some great ideas here.

Now, for those who swap resorts. How do you handle your luggage? Do you have to check in again, or out of the first resort?

My logic on staying at the nicer place first was tht we could pack a carry on for a night or two and we could leave most of our other bags until we got to the place we would stay longer.

Last year, money decided All Star Movies for us. This year we are more flexible. I'm thinking Pop to Contemporary.

The problem I have with the Contemporary is that I want to be sure I can get a Magic Kingdom view. If not, then I'm not interested in staying there this time around. Can you pay more to ensure this?

Yes, but that means you have to pack everything back up before the move, right? That seems to be my wifes concern, not mine.

I think that is called the tower room and there is no guarentee that you can get a MK view. You can request it, but no guarantee. Why not pack one suitcase for one resort and one for the other and that way you can end with the big "boom" of the deluxe and not have the hassle you think you will have with repacking everything? Just a suggestion. I hate to see you downgrade mid-trip. It may be a bummer.

I have a lot to consider. :laugh I'm hoping to save the Boardwalk until a Christmas trip thanks to Mickey's advice once before, so... maybe the Poly. If you get a Lake View room are you also MK view there?
