Being a Disneyholic and not having anything Disney to talk about. That is one of the lesser known dangers of being hooked on Disney Forums. When their isn't much new news or new posts, your daily Disney release becomes shut off. It's an awful feeling. I want to read about or post Disney ideas, news, and helpful hints, but I have none at the moment. :nooo:

Do know what's even worse than that? Having a trip in a week and having nothing to comment on or post about. All you want to do is talk about Disney and you can't.....Now I will go to work today and talk to my unsuspecting customers about all aspects of my trip....."yeah yeah lady that's great...do you have the Bounty that is on sale or not?":laugh :laugh

Oh WDWspider that is really so true .. like right now I want to see something new ..or interesting, and post over and over that we are going in March ..I am scared to post much about going in March because ..well even though it paid .. we cant be sure about what might come between now and then.. its been the first time we havent been just busting over an upcoming trip. I keep reading everything though :) I would love to hear and see more about Pop Century

Well, now that someone else has brought it up...

First of all, I'd say that since most of us have been around DC for sometime and been to Disney numerous times, I would consider us Disney veterans. :) I was discussing this with a couple of folks before and everyone seems to agree that we came here seeking information which we have all found. Now, everyone just kinda hangs around to voice their opinions on Disney posts that newbies make.

In the meantime, everyone wants to stay in touch with the wonderful people they have met on DC. So, everyone posts stuff that has nothing to do with Disney. (Guilty as charged....:whistle: )

It would be great to have a separate website for those who just want to enjoy the people from DC. It could be a place for everyone who wants to maintain the relationships they have built and people could post anything rather than feel funny about having non-Disney stuff on DC. Its something to think about. I have the capability to set something like that up, but it wouldn't be as nice as DC.

I second that Anne. You have expressed my feelings exactly! It would be wonderful to have a place for us Disney fans to talk about some non disney related things and not have that guilty feeling about it!;) I enjoy the friendships that I have made here at DC discussing my love of Disney!!

You are so right, Anne! In fact, that is why my boards were started, as a place to enjoy online friendships made through a common love of all things Disney! We still have Disney questions on a variety of things and keep up-to-date with ongoing changes, but the main thrust of the boards is on the general "chit chat" forum.

Not trying to ruffle feathers, but isn't that what we have the mouse trap for? To have posts about "things". I can't imagine trying to recreate the magic of this site. The people who post about nothing in general tend to start some of the greatest threads. didn't "ummm" win the December contest? Why would we need another place to go? This site feels like home to some of us and for some of us "workaholics" and a night out when one can't be arranged. Another website to visit is fine I suppose but it certainly wouldn't be DC. The "other" posts about life in general are what make this forum close-knit and family like becasue we share a peice of ourselves with everyone. Newbies feels more welcomed by us being open about ourselves and our lives. It has to be a turn-on for this site to see so many people come together and share their thougths on all Disney and everything to do with life. It kinda humanizes us doesn't it? Maybe I'm off base and misunderstood the true meaning of this web site, but I know that the reasons I mentioned above are what keep people coming back here over and over again. Otherwise they would plan and move on... All the "magic" in this forum is made by the people who post and share their experiences with the group. That is why this site is a step above the rest.

Well, I suppose, if anything, we could have a Chit Chat section where post counts do not count to talk about Misc... things that are not Disney and the Mouse Trap for Misc... things that may pertain to Disney in some form.

That really wasn't my meaning behind this thread, but it is an interesting direction. I prefer to talk primarily Disney, it's just what I like to do. I have PM, AIM, and email options to talk regular friend talk if I want. :D

Anne you have a great Idea when I first came to DC it was small and had a disney only talk feel to it . Now since most of us are folks that have been to disney and have researched alot it has been getting away from that feel . I think we do need a second site so we could gab without making too many posts about nothing on this one

Dana... I don't think you have ruffled any feathers with what you have said. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions and there may be plenty of people who don't like the suggestions made. The Umm... thread really DID take off and was so much fun... Its too bad it can't be duplicated... that was a one-time thing I think! LOL.... a legendary thread by its own right.

Spidey... I like your idea of the chit-chat section. No posts in the forum count toward your post count and the discussions do not appear on the front page. I think it can get distracting to a newbie to come looking for Disney info and all they can find is where DisneyAnne and DisneyTeacher like to drink Eagle Brand from the can. LOL!!! :laugh

Cheryl... if you look at the rules that Mickey has posted, you will see that there is an entry on spam and boosting post counts as well as relevance to the site. I know those rules were written before things really took off here. Maybe they need to be adjusted to include "gabbing." I know I have the gift myself...:love:

I definitely think its something for Mickey and the mods to explore....:D

I was wondering if I misundstood WDWspider what your thread was about ...
ditto .. I was an ircop for a couple of years and had a channel for 6 years (which still lives on with out me *grin*)..if I want to just chat I can go to irc and do that .. and like you I have email and pm's msn messager. Its Disney I want to keep up with and well I happen to really love DC. Its where I start and end my day :)

I guess I am against the grain on this and am sorry for it. I guess what I feel is special about this site differs from what others do. Difference of opinion is good. We can't agree on everything. I will leave my private moments out of Dc and share them in PM's. I reread the rules and guess that I have broken a few. I have never posted to boost my count though...i just happen to post too much I guess. I'll take this moment to apologize and we'll leave it at that. I will leave my opinions on Disney stuff.

Not at all. I was simply saying that their isn't much Disney going ons today and it's frustrating when you want to talk Disney but can't find anything to discuss or answer.

No, no, no... that isn't what was meant at all, Dana. Don't feel sorry for it at all, girl.... I have broken the rules too. I want to find a good place for everyone to keep doing what we have been doing but make it easy for people to see the Disney information they came looking for. I think Spidey may be onto something here... I just need to see if Mickey can accommodate something like that right here on good ole DC... No worries my friend!
