Devise a new ride

Imagine that your an Imagineer for one day .If you could devise a ride for one of the Disney Parks what would it be ?
and what Park would it be in ?

Okay I guess you'd need to base it on a favourite Disney movie or character ( not yet used obviously ) and then just let your imagination run riot on what the ride could be.

Would it be a rollercoaster or a 4-D show or whatever ?

Would it be indoor or outdoor ? Would it be wet or dry ?

I'm off to think of one right now but I'm sure your's will be better.

I'll be back .

Hmm... Right off the top of my head, I can't think of a ride based on the movie Fantasia.. Somebody please pipe up if I am wrong!
So I would make a nice indoor air conditioned ride centered around the Fantasia theme. It would go from being a boat ride to a flying ride (e.g. like Peter Pan) or something whimsical of the sort.

This isn't exactly a ride but one thing that I thought would be cute is to have an attraction where kids (or grown ups if they are in to this sort of thing) can dress up like the characters, be it princesses or movie characters and have their pictures taken in front of a themed background.... Ok, so that one sounded better in my head...

Game on!

Every time I watch Monsters I think the whole door retrieval thing would be a great roller coaster...but not a sit down one. One of those ones where your legs dangle. It would be inside, in the dark, but the doors would glow & you could go through some of them into other places. Just a thought....:) :)

As I started this thing I guess I should offer up some ideas of my own.

The one's suggested so far both have the basis of good ideas.

I like the idea of the kids getting to put on an outfit to take part ( or if that proved impractical maybe collecting an item like a sword or wizard hat etc ) and I also think that Fantasia would make an excellent premise for a ride.....ok I know that a bit of it is used for Fantasmic but a ride would be totally different.

So if you don't mind I'd like to develop those themes a little bit.

How about making part of the ride a " walk - through " where you encounter some characters. You could incorporate the doors from " Monsters " too. There's no reason why it couldn't go from movie to movie as you progress from one area to the next one.
( a bit like the excellent " Great Movie Ride " at MGM )

So far we have a part ride -part walk-thru based on more than movie with the kids being able to collect an item to carry with them. Movie suggestions are Fantasia and Monsters plus.......?

You know what... Disney actually had a Fantasia Boat ride in mind for Animal Kingdom at one time. It was going to go into a Mythical Creature land they had considered. Unfortunately the land (and propably the ride) will never see the light of day.

See, that just goes to show that I am Disney Imagin-ear material. Of course, I am the file 13 material seeing as how my idea was scrapped. Oh well. I will stick to my humble abodes here!

Ok - I know this is off track for this post, but I had a question about that boat ride at AK. Is that the one that had the dragon in a cave or something? I read somewhere that you could still see it breathing fire. I tried to find it when I was at AK in Dec., but I couldn't and no one knew anything about it. Does this ring a bell for anyone?:nooo:

The boat ride is Kali River Rapids but I do not think it has a dragon in it.

OK here is my ride. It would be themed in Finding Nemo stuff and it would of course be a water ride. Maybe something like Splash Mountain or maybe something like a water roller coaster. I think that would be soooo cool. I am really surprised they have nothing themed in it yet!!

Monsters Inc. would make a fab. ride. Roller coaster would be great but an indoor ride like peter pan could work also. Going through the doors into kids rooms from different parts of the world. My DS would never go on the ride since he is scared of the movie.

Finding Nemo would be great also. You could just ''float along" until you reached the current, then blast off like RnR with surf music blasting all around. Then you could end up in Sydney harbor and view the opera house.

Okay, so forgive me for bringing another non-Disney theme park into the mix, but at Universal Studios, they have the Mummy Returns museum that kind of turns into a haunted house theme from Halloween. I think maybe Disney should do one of these. It would be a walk through of course. To make it Disney scarey, it would be themed with Monsters Inc. Your could pick your own path. You would walk into a dark room with a single light illuminating a panel with a choice of 3 buttons. You can pick any button to push and when you do, a black light illuminates one of the doors. You only see one door because they are painted with the luminescent paint that only shows up with a black light. Maybe on the panel, it could say "not so scary", "moderately scarey", and "really scarey". That way those that have kids that aren't into the scarey stuff would be able to chose the not so scarey one. Then you go through the door that is illuminated into a path designed for that level of fright. Then each of the paths ends in another room with another choice of buttons. This time all the buttons will illuminate the same door that goes into a single room filled with stuff that would make anyone laugh. This room would almost be like the Jokes and Gags shop in MGM (the Roger Rabbit one) to simulate the end of the movie where they switch to laughs instead of screams for power.

Okay, so maybe I have too much time on my hands but I would definitely enjoy this type of walk through, or maybe they could have little cars with the buttons on the dash and you could still choose your path.

Who knows, maybe the Disney Imagineers are already working on a ride like this or any of the others on this thread. By the way, Aurora, I love the idea of getting to dress up like your favorite character and getting a picture taken. It could be a place like the ones where you get those old timey black and white pictures done.

So far , although there's been a lot of good ideas , I don't know about you but think JBKoala's has really set my imagination racing.

It's incorporated ideas already suggested ie Monsters inc doors and a walk through ( just like The Mummy ......which is where I was coming from initially ) and expanded on those brilliantly.

I like the idea of having choices of door to go through into rooms of varying degrees of scariness and then ultimately leading into the one fun room.

You guys have a lot of excellent ideas.............obviously based on your own experiences at WDW ( and others ).

I hope that this thread isn't offending any of the professional imagineers.

Thanks to everyone who's taken part so far.
