Disney Link to American Idol

I was watching American Idol last night, and towards the end a young man caught my eye, I knew I had seen him before but couldn't place him. Once he opened his mouth and sang, it all became clear. If anyone out there is familiar with the 1990s version of the Mickey Mouse Club, Marquis Lynche (Tate) is one of the ones sent off to Hollywood. In case anyone else was watching it, Marquis was the good looking young dancer who didn't dance for them. Paula Abdul said that she felt a connection with him. I didn't realize that he'd be eligible to compete because of his professional background, but good for him!! I hope he does well.

FYI, he was one of the 'teers alongside Britney, Ryan, Christina, and Justin...:):) :)

Whoa, so out of how many mousketeers-8,9-at least 5 have made or is going to the big show?

What a talented group of kids!

Whoever was the talent scout for that show knew what they were doing!

Unfortunately,Ron,you are so right. I wonder what Walt Disney would think of these performers now?

I remember reading in ' A Dream is A Wish Your Heart Makes' that when Annette went to Walt Disney about making the Beach movies he asked her not to wear anything too revealing ..also in her book the original Mouseketeers had some very strict rules they had to follow.
No Walt Disney would not think much at all of Brittney, Christina or Justin

You beat me to it!! I was just about to say how he specifically asked Annette not to show her belly button...wonder what he'd have to say about Sunday's Superbowl halftime show involving one of his 'teers?

My point was that the disney talent scouts found people for the show that had a certain pizzaz. Now what they did with their pizzaz after they left disney is another story!:nooo:

Ryan Gosling has made some great movies...and Keri Russell, Tony Lucca, and even JC from NSync have done some things to be proud of...those other three though...I shudder to think of what's going to be out there when my DD starts being interested in something other than Teletubbies and Mickey...:nooo:

No kidding. How sad, I don't understand all of this. Is it that they really don't have enough faith in their own talents that they feel they have to do this kind of thing to get enough press to sell a CD?

I guess I am just getting too old. My greatest fear is coming true......I am starting to sound like my mother!!:nooo:

I noticed that too goofygal! She had a great voice. I bet she was a singer in the stage shows.

At 22, I am still considered a child in many aspects of life. I can say this though, I don't like what is happening in the music video and performance areas of entertainment. I don't even have kids yet and I already worry about what they will see and experience in their lifetimes. I've never really been interested in music videos, so I don't really think about what some of these singers do in them. I can honestly say that MTV has started moving away from their roots and now show reality and game shows more that music videos. I guess that is because so many of their video selections need to be censured. Go figure!!!!
