Working at Disney Stores

I was walking in the mall today and stopped at the Disney Store to see if there was anything interesting. There wasn't..lol...But I thought of something while I was in there. I have never seen a male working at any of the Disney Stores around where I live. I don't know if men think it's not cool to work there or if they just don't hire them. Just something I thought about while I was there.

We've got several male CM's at two different stores near us too. Don't know about any in LaurenGold's neck of the woods.

We do too!! We have at least 2 whom I've had the pleasure of dealing with. There is an older gentlemen who works there, and over the past Christmas season I was paying for my purchase, using my Disney Club Card, he came over from across the store to chat with me about how much we were all going to miss that card!!! He was so sweet!! And so right, boy do I miss that card!!

We've got a young man in our store that was really helpful telling me about his trip to WDW recently.

I've not ran into a bad CM at our local Disney Store.

At our (deceased) Disney Store, the manager was a young male college student...really nice guy. I don't know WHY they got rid of that store, but I'm SO MAD because now I have to drive over 40 miles North to get to another one! :devil

We also have 2 men that work at our local DS. One of the men who works there, works there part time, just to get his Disney fix,
and donates the merchandise that he can purchase there at a discount, to a local charity. What a nice guy. ah

My DH has worked at the Disney Store part time for 5 1/2 years. He loves being in the Disney Spirit all the time. He really loves the "perks" he gets for working there.

But he has been the only male for quite a long time until recently when other stores closed and their male cast members transferred to "his" store. :)

Well, sadly, they closed my Disney Store too. When I got stationed here we went to the mall for the first time, and I was so excited to see a Disney Store there. That was in July 2001. I told my wife that I was going to apply for a "seasonal" position there. I went in one time and struck up a conversation with the manager and another cm, and we really hit it off. We were all obvious Disney fans. I told them my intentions on applying for the job, and they told me that they would have hired me in a second, but unfortunately, the store was going to close. It closed shortly after I arrived here, and I've been without a Disney Store ever since. No Disney Store = bad mall...:(

Hey Ryan! I think you definitely should apply!:) They look for people with enthusiasm for Disney, and your knowledge of WDW would also be a plus!:) I have been working at mine for over 6 months and I really love it! We also have 2 male employees at my store. They do a lot of "stocking" and behind-the scenes work.

Go for it!:)

My DD works at one of the 2 close to us PT. They haven't had a lot of hours lately though so she has an interview tomorrow morning at a daycare center. She's hoping to work there during the week & still work at the Disney Store on the weekends. She says there used to be a guy working at hers, but he was just Christmas help. I know there were a couple of guys at the other one, but I haven't seen them in awhile.

Hey everyone..thanks for the advice! I think I'll apply. When? I don't know. I was thinking of waiting until May when school gets out.I never see more than the same 3 people or so working at the store nearest to me so I hope they'll hire! lol. I was thinking of getting an office job, but I like being around people and being a journalism major, who is afraid of speaking infront of people, it helps with my fear of people...Plus I love Disney. It seems like it would be a good experience and give me something to do .
