Wanted: Disney-crazy pal

I am advertising for a friend/family/whatever who loves Disney with reckless abandon and acts like a 6 year old in WDW no matter how old they are now. Oppurtinities include: trips to said park, chance to get to know a poor college student, chance to act like a six year old. Pay: none. But the magical moments are priceless!

...Okay, so I'm kinda of kidding. But after my trip recently I kinda of feel like I don't really "know" anyone out there that loves Disney as much as me....or shows it. Don't get me wrong, I loved doing the parks with my friend Jody, and she can't remember the last time she was there so it was a blast! But still...I couldn't really be myself the whole time and I was (shamefully, *blush blush blush*) relieved when she stayed behind to get a pineapple slushie so I could get a head start in line to see the Genie. Alone. (sigh of embarrased releif.)

Maybe I'm just so used to going to the parks by myself that its the only way I can get that magic-wonder-feeling? On the other hand, it is kind of lonely to not scream with anyone on Space Mountain or sit alone on Pirates of the Carribean.

Well, hopefully I will find someone with alot of money since I am dirt poor after this recent trip!

Is there something wrong with me, or do I just need Dana the PDD therapist to give me a swift kick in the butt? :laugh

Sounds like there is nothing at all wrong with you. I have decided that we "disney Crazies" or "disney addicts" are the real sane people ..its everyone else that has a problem.

Screever! Aren't you glad you found this site? You found the perfect people to share with! Loads of people who love the perfection of the details of WDW... Do we all have a box filled with sugar packets, wet-paint signs and little bottles of shampoo that we brought home simply because they have Mickey and Minnie on them? Do we all own every travel guide written about WDW (even though each of us believes that we and we alone have the experience to know the REAL best way to vacation there)? Do we all have pressed pennies and an almost-filled autograph book (mine has 11, count 'em 11, Minnie Mouse autographs)? Do we all read each others' posts with the same exuberance that we post our own thoughts? Do we all spend more time on this site than is reasonable by ther peoples' standards?
The answer to all of the above is likely YES!!! Thank heavens! Long live DC! I hope you find pals and enjoy this site as much as I have!

Screver, I totally agree with your post, except for thing. You said that when you go to WDW with people who don't love Disney the way you do, you aren't able to act like "yourself." I was just curious why you feel like you have to hide that part of you. Just because your buddy isn't "Disney Crazy" like us, doesn't mean you can't still totally enjoy your time at WDW the way you want to. LET IT OUT, DON'T BE ASHAMED! I know that when I go to WDW, I'm usually the most "Disney Crazy" one there, but I don't let that stop me from being silly and acting like a kid. For me, that's what it's all about. The people with me usually catch a little of my energy, and I like to think, that I make their trip a little more magical. Don't let anyone hold you back from enjoying WDW the way you love it. :)

Mickaholic, I live in Maryland. But maybe if I get to do the College program again this summer we can hang out!!! Whee!! :D

I know, DisneyHog; I care too much sometimes about what other people think. Sometimes it depends on the people, sometimes it depends on the occasion. I know it's such a waste of time because they are probably all thinking the same thing. Buuuuuut thays the way I am, not very attractive character trait but there ya go.

Maybe I'll work on this....someday.... :laugh

I understand what you are saying. Here's what worked for me, maybe just out of dumb luck, but it's worth a try.

When my wife and I were dating, I never kept my love for Disney a secret. After a couple of years, we finally were able to take a trip to Disneyland together. My build-up and enthusiasm on our trip payed off. She's a convert.

Did my shameless enthusiasm have anything to do with it? Not sure but she decided to stick around so I guess I did not make too big a fool out of myself.

Once I was sure she was a Disney nut like me, I decided it was OK to marry her. ;)

I've since converted my Mother-in-law and in a couple of years, a friend of mine has agreed to go with us with his family so there's my next victims.:bandit

So you just sometimes need to make your own Disney friends. I'm a pretty shy person myself, but nobody I have ever known has judged me harshly for my love of Disney, even the ones who don't care for Disney at all, so I say go for it!!

Screever, you are SO not alone!!! I know exactly how you feel! I've gone on several Disney trips with my family, and several others with my dear friend Melissa...but none of them feel the same way I feel about Disney. When I start to blab incoherently about the magic, that's when their eyes get all glassed over and they kind of laugh uncomfortably...

I'm right here with ya!!! If you need a pal, PM me anytime--or e-mail me! We could be pen pals too, if you like! And wouldn't it be AWESOME if some time in the future we could coordinate a Disney trip together?? :heart

You are NOT alone at all, so never feel that way!

P.S. mmouse671, my signifcant other is a convert as well! :D We'll be getting married soon...but it wasn't until we actually went to Disneyland together a month ago that I was convinced...he's got the Disney bug!!!

Screever where in Maryland do you live?? I am over on the Eastern Shore. Do not feel bad about leaving your friend I had the most fun the day that my friend was sick. I felt bad leaving them in the room but I did have a lot of fun and it seemed like more of the magic came out.
