Regular things become Magical

I guess it may be silly. But when you bring and use regular things, like backpacks, shoes, clothes, etc, to WDW, when you come back and you still use them, do they have special meaning now? I'm talking about stuff you didn't get at WDW, not souvenirs. Like now, a year after a trip, I see the backpack I used in WDW and go "That's my special backpack." I call the white sneakers I wore to WDW my "WDW sneakers." If I wear clothes that I wore in WDW, I pause for a moment to reflect... "I wore this in WDW." Everything I used there has special meaning now. I feel like they've been infected with pixie dust and they bring a bit of WDW with me wherever I go. Does anyone else get that feeling?

I do that. When I came back from our October trip, after being to Disney for a grand total of 43 days out of the last year, I folded away my "Disney Only' items (fanny pack, lanyards, trader pins, etc) into my 'Disney suitcase' and it was so blitheringly sad!!!

We do buy new tee-shirts and stuff and bring them with us (I don't know WHAT it is with my husband and new underwear before he travels, but there it is too...) so when I come across the stuff throughout the year I'll think "Oh, cool! I wore that when we were..." and remember...

It's a great feeling.

I have a Victoria Secret Body spray that I wore at Disney every day, when we went. To this day, it brings back some seriously magical memories!! Every time I smell it, I think Disney!!!

Oh yea, this happens to me, do doubt about it. The cool this is that I had stuffed some WDW napkins into one of the zipper pouches in my backpack and I found them a few months later. That brought such a smile to my face. I also have a few shirts that I wore during my WDW trip last Oct that really make me think "the last time I wore this, I was in a much better place." Great thread. I'm glad I'm not the only one who does this. :D

Everyone needs to go to Marketplace and buy a can of Mickey's Disney Blend Coffee ("It's Really Swell")... then refill the coffee can all year with your own ground coffee. That way, you can have a WDW moment to start every day. It sounds stupid, but I take a moment every morning to read the label...

That would be great, except, I don't like coffee. It's yucky. :p Cool idea though. What a cool way to start each day. :)

OMG, you just reminded me - we use Suave Coconut shampoo when we go (it's dirt cheap, and if we want to, we can throw the rest out when packing to come home - reminds us of summer, too) Anyways, when I was getting bummed out after my surgery this winter, DH bought me a bottle and it *instantly* brought me back to the Animal Kingdom Lodge!!

Disneyhog6 - if you drink tea (which is my caffeine of choice lately) they've got tins of tea, too. What a great idea!!

I usually buy some (ok a lot) of new clothes for a WDW trip. When I come home from my stay, they are official WDW clothes. You are all right, it takes you back to a certain day in the parks or resorts everytime you wear said item. I lent my friend my Mickey backpack for her trip and now it has double special meaning to it. It was her DD's first trip ever. I let her keep the backpack knowing I would have to hunt her for it...lol:laugh

I kept several tickets from 1975, they are A, B, C, D, & E, rides. I keep them just to look at them from time to time and remember the original way WDW was. I also have a map of the MK from 1975. Joe

I have a pair of sneakers that I bought especially for my 2002 WDW trip. They have now been with me on 2 WDW trips and 1 Disneyland trip!

BOY, are they worn-in!!! :laugh

Every time I look at them, I get this warm fuzzy feeling...

I also have this specific bottle of sunscreen that I rarely use, because I don't want to waste it. It reminds me of WDW; I found it by the side of the pool at All-Star Movies, and when nobody claimed it for several hours, I took it. It's kind of expensive sunscreen, and it's got this unique smell that always makes me think of WDW! :D

And last but not least...I ALWAYS use Suave Professionals Awapuhi shampoo when I go, and even the smell of it makes me weak at the knees. It makes me feel like I am actually at the Polynesian!!! Sometimes when I'm depressed, I'll go to Wal-Mart and open a bottle of that stuff and take a deep whiff. I make sure and ONLY use it for Disney trips, though, because I don't want it to lose its magic!!!

GREAT THREAD, Mr. Mermaid!!! :heart

This is a great thread... I have certain things that I only use at WDW. I also buy a lot of new things to wear and they become "DISNEY CLOTHES."

I really liked MissDinsney's thoughts regarding the purchase of a Disney can of coffee. I am going to do that on our next trip to DW so that when back at home I can have that first thing in the morning "disney moment".
