playing golf in WDW

my husband wants to play golf when we go in august. Has anybody played golf at any of the courses, and if so what ones do you recommend? Also, is it better to get a tee time in the morning or the late afternoon. He will be bringing his own golf clubs so that won't be a problem and it looks like he gets a golf cart included in the price (although he prefers to walk, but it look like these courses are a little to large to walk). Any advice would be helpful, thanks.:) :)

I have played at both the Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines courses, and both of them are fantastic. I understand that all the courses are good, so you won't go wrong. The Magnolia and Palm courses are standard 70's layouts, some water, some trees, some sand and long holes. The Lake Buena Vista course, which winds through Old Key West and the Disney Institute is newer, and has a lot of water, and very tight holes. The reason I like Osprey Ridge and Eagle Pines is that they are not near anything. You really feel like you are in the middle of nowhere. The courses blend well with the surroundings, and are as tough as any course I have ever played. Osprey Ridge is by far the toughest course at WDW, so if he wants a challenge, and has plenty of money for lost balls, that would be the best. Eagle Pines isn't as hard, but definitely a challange if you aren't capable of hitting a particular spot.

As far as tee times, I know it is cheaper in the afternoon, I think after 1:00 PM. Most people want to play first thing in the morning so they can spend the rest of the day in the parks. Disney resort guests get a discount off of the regular rate, and priority tee times. You can get more information by calling (407) WDW-GOLF. I think I covered the courses in greater detail in another post, so you could also search for that.

Thanks for the info Mickey, he will want to play the more challanging one I'm sure, so I'll let him know what you thought.:)
