Does your family think you are a Disney World Nut?

We went to DW for 6 years straight and then my husband said NO MORE. I did manage to go back once without him in 1996. This is our first trip back since then and I am so excited! My husband thinks I am nuts to spend so much time on these DW sites. I think it is more fun then sitting watching the Braves play ball every night. I have found out so many interesting things and money saving ideas. With two kids in college we are always watching pennies!

My husband (fortunately) loves WDW as much as I do. The only problems is that he prefers to go every other year and I like to go every year. :madmad

Anyway, the rest of my family think I am a walking Disney Encyclopedia! I love to learn everything I can about WDW and I am always talking about the place!

I agree with you, planning a WDW trip is 1/2 the fun!

Have a great trip! (We just got back 2 weeks ago...still going through withdrawls!:dazed

My wife was the person who got me interested in Disney, so our family is in synch. This is especially true since we've been on about 15 family vacations, and we've only really enjoyed one other destination (Outer Banks, NC).

I get more of the "nut" comments from friends and co-workers who view WDW as a one-time vacation destination "for the kids."

My whole family are Disney nuts! So I fit right in. :D

Like Brum, I get more comments from my friends and co-workers like, "You're going to DisneyWorld again?!?" They just don't get it.

Poor souls. :p

DH and I both love WDW. We might disagree on our favorite resort at WDW but thats about it :) Our only problem is our son in law ..he is just wonderful but he has never wanted to go to WDW .. our daughter has gone a few times .. and she and the girls are working on Joe ..just about got him convinced (he is into golf big time so our daughter has been pushing the golf courses) and so we are hoping that next year he will at least give it a 3 day try. Our son is law is great ..and we know if we could just get him there he would be as in love with it as the rest of the family :)

Like most of you, my immediate family is as much into Disney as I am. My sister & her husband are, too, but the rest of our extended families don't get it.

The friends & co-workers thing is the same, too. They say things like "Twice in one year?!" and "Is there enough to do there for 11 days?" They REALLY don't get it.

It really messes everyone that most of my clothes & jewelry are Disney, too. That's ok, I just wear it even more often!!!

guess I'm nutty, disney nutty

My immediate family are all in the nut house together. My dd and I espesially.

I actually got flack from friends and family because my 7 year old daughter's school work started to focus aroud disney. Every assignment she put a disney spin on it, whether it was journal writing, or an art project......it was always disney. Her teacher started asking her to think of another topic, dd said she could'nt she loved it to much!!! (1st grader)

:angel :)

People mostly think I'm the nut in the family though, espesially when I stay up on the computer on these sites.... I scrapbook disney, read my disney magazines, watch the family videos, watch the travel planning video, and just plan. They don't think of this as fun! Some people JUST don't get it:madmad :)

Isn't it sad that people will go through there life and never feel the Disney Magic?:weird: For those that just don't "get it" I say it is a place full of dreams, memories, and adventure. You can truly just enjoy yourself! Although my husband doesn't always "get it" he is going and will love watching the reaction of our year old grandaughter on her visit!

thats how I feel ..the people that have never been sorta have an excuse for not understanding what its about and what its like. but the ones that have been to WDW ..and say "it was ok" or still perfer six flags over texas *ewwwww* :dazed and those that go only for the rides when WDW is so much more then just rides. and LRTJS that smile .. I know it sooooooo well .. we have seen it on our granddaughters faces so many times starting when the youngest was six month old. She lite up so bright when she hugged Mickey and the other charactors .. all though some would say why take one so young they wont remember it...I will remember it ..prolly longer then I will remember anything else (memory is the first thing to go ..like leaving my shopping list here on my desk this morning) we have taken both our granddaughters every year and they have told us we can go any where in the world with out them ..except WDW. I am looking forward to the day when they push us around in wheel chairs after the years we pushed them in strollers.

One of the things that attracted me to this forum is the fact that it seems many of us here DO live the Disney way. Or rather, enjoy clean cut wholesome fun and don't frown on it, but rather rejoice in it.
(I noticed the median age was mid-thirties, which is interesting, because I am also there - could it be this is something we grew up with that we don't want to let go of).
I'm often refered to as "Mr. Goodie Two Shoes" - and you know-- all I have to say to that is, "So what?". Disney products have their good and bad points, but the stress is definitely on the good - the side I'd rather be on.

As for being a Disney expert- during our last trip, my gal was amazed by how many Disney songs I knew the words to - as they filtered through the park. It led her to say that we "Have" to go to Disneyland Paris. "Just LISTEN to you - who else knows all of those songs in three notes". Well, I think I've found the answer to that one! :)

I think your right about this board ..the people here are really very special in my opinion ..I was at another disney board where they really seemed to enjoy insulting and arguing.. It wasnt a case of different opinions because we all have those about everything from parks to moves to resorts to how we travel to WDW .. but here its all about the joy and the helping when you can :) .. of course I am one of the *older* people here .. and I agree that that is a down side sometimes with disney ( song of the south not being released in the states for instance) but over all ..its something ...well like the commercials .. Magic :)

Well, I'm a little older than mid-30s...like a decade older...& I do think, geeman, that growing up with all this is part of it. It takes us back to a much more innocent time. My hubby & I sing every song in WDW we hear & are often heard starting sentences with "Remember when...". And as for that wholesome feeling, we absolutely love it. As a matter of fact, as soon as hubby heard about Celebration, FL the wheels started spinning. Don't be surprised if we spend our retirement there.

And Tinkerbell, I think this board is great, too. I haven't been here but a matter of months, but I love "hanging out" with a bunch of people who get Disney & aren't mean-spirited...don't we get enough of that in the real world? Thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome from day one!!!!
