Please Read: Lapel Pins for Disney Central Members

Okay, here is my plan...

I have been with this group for a few months. There is one thing that I keep reading that sticks in my mind. "I wonder if we were near each other." When I was there last week, I too wondered, am I near anyone from DisneyCentral?

Well, here is my idea. I want us to decide on a name or nickname. I am currently looking into prices to make our group a lapel pin that we can wear when at WDW so that we can find eachother. We can wear then on our pin trading necklace thing (don't know the official name of that) or just on our clothes. And we can say Hi if we run into each other. Wouldn't that be awesome?

And pins are so much a part of Disney. So what do you think?

If this is something the moderators need to approve, please contact me so that I know I can proceed.

And of course, we must not worry about any copyright stuff so I think we must stay away from anything on the pin that is Disney related like Mickey ears etc.

The lowest quantity of pins I can order is 100. I am searching for the best price and will get that quote out to you. But for now, I can say one company I have talked with sells 1.50" pins (which is a good size) at $2.70 each but the quantity must be 100 or more. And the set up fee is $45. So the total for 100 pins would be $270 + $45 = $315 Then there would be the shipping and packaging cost from me to you. They can ship at first class rate for a minimal amount. As you can see, the cost can be very reasonable.

For the record, I make no $ in this and I am not affiliated in any way with any pin companies. My motivation is that we all love Disney, we all wonder from time to time if we are near another person from this group and maybe some of us would like to be able to walk up to eachother if we were to pass each other at WDW or DL or any other place. That is my motivation.

So, I need to know if I can do this? Moderators?

Second, I need to know who would want to purchase some and approximately how many. This would give me an idea if we can reach 100. If not, it is not worth it to do it.

Please let me know your thoughts.

And start thinking of a name or nickname for our group.

I'm not a moderator or admin so I don't know if this is something that we can officially do (although I don't see why not!)

If this does happen, count me in! I like the idea of the blue ribbon, I just don't ever end up wearing it. I would definatley wear a pin on my lanyard!!

Maybe Mickey can find a market for pins and sell them in the Disney Central store!!

Great idea! Why would we need a nickname. If Mickey approved, why couldn't we just have a DC pin? Someone should PM mickey and see what his thoughts are.

BTW: thanks for the lovely postcard magical moments! You absoutely made my day.:)

Great! Glad to start to see some responses in favor of this!
We need responses to continue to come in to get an estimate of how many people would want a pin. I would get 2 maybe 3. My DD and I, maybe DH. But he wouldn't wear it.
And 3 of you responded so we are up to 5. Remember this is an approximate #. You are not committed at this point. I just need to see how close we can get to 100.

So let's start to think of what it could say...
the name Disney Central?
A nickname?
A short saying?
Would you want the year on it, 2004?
And do what would you want the shape to be? Circle, square, rectangle.
Or we could do something like a sun, or something that reminds us of Disney. A sun reminds me of FL.
I think I saw a white glove somewhere.
What if it says something like... Remember the Magic
2004
Just some ideas to start us thinking.
Let's put on our thinking caps and get creative!

Great idea, MagicalMoments!!

Yeah, let's steer clear of any dates, that way we won't have to order new ones, we can use them for years and years!

A circle is my first vote, but a square would stand out more for those of us who don't wear our pin lanyards. (Sorry guys, but they get kind of heavy!) ^_^ Then again, if we all wore the official DC pin on our lanyards it would be hard to find. All those pins are so colorful, I'd be staring at everyone with a lanyard, squinting my eyes. :laugh

Maybe a yellow color, it stands out, is sunny like Florida and matches Mickey's shoes. As for a name/slogan...got me! Anything that says "DC" in big bold letters would be easy to find.

315 dollars? Each? Maybe I misread something...

Sorry, I should have continued with that figure. The approx total for 100 pins (the least I can order) would be $315 so $3.15 approx for one pin. Then there would be shipping and packaging costs which would not be much. I would have to get envelopes and maybe some bubbe wrap. Not costly stuff. And then I could get the postage weighed for first class for 1 pin, 2 pins, 3 etc.

I like the idea of Yellow, too. It would stand out. Most Disney pins are a shape of something. A yellow square or circle would stand out I think.

Not dating the pins is fine by me. I think that is just the Mom in me coming out. I am always dating my DD school work or art projects so I can remember which year they are from.

Keep the ideas coming!

Count me in for at least 2.

I think the color yellow would show up really well. I like the idea of a circle( no corners to stick you) if it's on your shirt.
I don't think it needs a date either.

Count me in for 1.

I like the Yellow Color. What about something that says "DC Spreading Magic Like Pixie Dust!" A circle sounds good. Does anyone have any other design ideas in mind?

I would love to recognize my fellow DCers at WDW on my next trip, especially if they are CMs and CPs. That would be so cool.

We are up to about 12 pins! Making progress to 100!!

What about a sun shape? It would be yellow. And it resembles FL?

I thought I saw a white glove somewhere when doing my search for pins.

It is my understanding from the person I have been talking with that we can get any shape that they can make. I think the yellow circle will stand out however, we have time to really think about this. Think of some shapes too.

And if the wording would space better on a rectangular shape, I will ask if we can have the corners rounded.

I will find out tomorrow how many words would fit on a 1.50" pin.

What about something like:

Disney Central
Spreading the Magic

or

DC
Sharing the Magic

or...

who's next?
