Re: Disney Memories

9 years ago, in 1995, my family took a trip to Disneyland. It was my little sister's first trip (she was 2), and my second trip (I was 10).

I remember walking across the DL parking lot, holding hands with my little sister. My mom had dressed us in these matching Lion King shorts outfits...pink with Simba all over them. My dad was walking a few steps behind us with the video camera on, and my mom told my little sister to say something to the camera.

Little curly-haired Michelle muttered something, but no one could make it out...so my mom told her to turn and say it to the camera. Michelle turned around, flashed the biggest, toothiest, most wonderful Disney grin you can imagine, and shouted, "We're goin' to Did-neyland, Daddy!"

A few hours after that, I remember 3 things...first, Chip n' Dale stealing my visor and making my sister giggle. Then riding the teacups with my sister, and my mom was spinning the teacup as fast as she possibly could. Michelle was laughing so hysterically that her head was thrown back over the edge of the teacup, and everything from her neck upward was beet red! None of us could stop laughing after that. The third and final memory from that trip was my sister dragging us on It's A Small World over and over and over...until the only one of us who could bear to board that boat anymore was my mom! The poor woman rode IASW eleven times with little Michelle!

That was probably the trip that cemented it for me...I'd always wanted to work for Disney, but seeing the sparkle in my 2-year-old sister's eyes on that whole trip made me realize without a doubt that I wanted to spend my life making the Magic happen.

Re: Disney Memories

My favorite memory, thus far, happened on my family's first trip to WDW. My 4 year old had looked in gift shops all week for the special thing to spend her limited souvenier money on. She finally chose a sleeping beauty bank, and took it up to the counter to pay. The CM waited patiently while she counted out her quarters, dimes and nickels to see if she had enough to buy the bank. She had just enough money to buy it. After ringing up the purchase, the CM reached into his own pocket, pulled out a few coins and gave them to my daughter to "start her off" in her new bank. Her smile was priceless!

Re: Disney Memories

I have a funny memory from our recent trip (last week ). I live in CT, but I'm originally from the Bronx. Imagine my dismay when my 8yo son told me he likes the Red Sox more than the Yankees. He wore a Red Sox cap all during the Disney trip. Imagine my delight when he posed to take a picture with Sully (from Monsters Inc) and Sully turned and knocked the cap off his head! I yelled out "Yay! Sully is a Yankees fan!"

Re: Disney Memories

One of my favorites was at Disneyland when my daughter was barely 3 and decided she LOVED all the characters so much she had to hug them about 20 times before she could walk away!! We were at CA and Lilo and Stitch were doing a little show. After the crowd thinned to basically us Lilo came and took my 3 year old and danced with her, just her!! It made her whole trip!!! Makes me teary just thinking about it!!!

Re: Disney Memories

I have two.

One was the first trip that DS had to WDW. He was 3 1/2 and we went on the Dumbo ride in Fantasyland.

When we got on, he asked me about the knob and I told him not to touch it because that would make us go up and that would scare me.

So, of course the entire ride we were "fighting" over the knob where he would push the knob up and I would act completely scared out of my mind and push it back down. He was laughing hysterically the whole time. Both of us agree that is our most vivid memory of that trip.

My second memory is last year when we first brought DD to WDW. Our first full day we went to MK. We saw the opening ceremony (which none of us had ever seen before) and right after we got our pictures taken, a CM came over to ask us to be Grand Marshals of the parade. It was AWESOME.

There are MANY more WDW memories, but those the the first two that I tell everyone.

Re: Disney Memories

Every November, my parents took me out of school for 10 days to drive down to WDW. Having grown up with Disney in my life, I honestly believe it is part of what made me who I am today. And while I have thousands of Disney memories, dating back to 1975 (my first trip) and of course my last trip in 2001 when I took my fiance to WDW for his first time, my most favorite Disney Memory has yet to happen.

BUT it will on June 5....when my DH and I take our 15-month old DD to WDW for the first time for 9 days and stay at the only resort I've ever stayed at --- the Poly!!!! I know that she really won't remember the trip...but we will. She loves her Disney Sing Along videos and I do believe that when we are sitting at Cinderella's Royal Table eating breakfast I'll need lots and lots of Kleenex.

Re: Disney Memories

My favorite Disney moment is when my DS told me that all he wanted to do was see the real Mickey Mouse. Then when we saw Sorcer Mickey at MGM he told Mickey that he liked his hat and he had one just like it! The smile on his face was priceless!

My little niece did the same, she started crying while we were going out of IASW... she was so happy to be there, we had to make the ride three times...

Re: Disney Memories

It is so impossible for me to pick one. So I will pick the last special memory. As many of you know .. my DH has multiple sclerosis, fatigue, ataxia and vertigo are his worse symtoms. When we were there August of 2003, Mission Space was open. After riding it, I knew he would love it, but I just didnt know if he could tolerate it. a few days later after we got off Dinosaur at AK. I told him I believed if he could ride Dinosaur, he could manage Mission:Space. I have to say .. the look on his face ..the smile and how happy he was will be something I always remember. After he road it, I went to buy us all M:S t-shirts, and he was near the exit speaking to a CM .. he just couldnt stop talking about the ride. He had that smile we see on children .. that magical smile all day long. After over a year of dr's, test, hospital stays, and fighting depression ..that one short trip to Mars was magic for us :)
