Just moved close to the Mouse

Hi everyone. Wow it's been awhile. I just wanted to pop in and say hello.

My family and I just moved about 1 hour away from the Mouse in FL. We are very excited!

Now I need to learn all I can about FL resident discounts to WDW. We promised our daughters we would get annual passes to Disney. With the move, I have racked up a lot of points on my Disney Visa , to use to buy the annual passes.

Any Floridians out there want to share any good tips about living close to the Mouse?

Have a Super day!

Where abouts are you? We live about an hour to the east in Brandon, just outside of Tampa.

Hi gcbdad. We are in Volusia county. North of Disney! Very beautiful . Tampa was an option for us too.. but we ended up here. Hubby works in Sanford.

I hear that Volusia County is great. I have never been there but any place in Florida is pretty great. Living so near WDW has lots of great perks. We can go on a whim for a day trip or even just hang out in Orlando and not feel obligated to visit the parks because we are close enough to go again.

WELCOME TO FLORIDA

Hi, I'm in Marion county -Ocala area to be exact. There are some great deals to be had being a Fl resident. I love to look at the Fl resident page at disneyworld.com, also www.mousesavers.com is good. You get to be right near the beach, NO FAIR!!!!! All we get to look at are horses and cows. Ok there are some realy great parks and springs here , some great places to camp. Well I hope you enjoy it, the discounts can not be beat!!!

Re: Just moved close to the Mouse

Thanks for the welcome! Sorry I haven't written in awhile. I unfortunetly got the wonderful Sasser worm. Yuck. But all is fixed now.

Well I can't wait to buy our AP's. We used our Disney Visa for all our moving expenses and since we are getting double the rewards through June we are going to wait until July or August to buy them --- if we can wait that long. We like to go in the fall anyway. And there is so much more to do around here beyound WDW. This is sooo cool!!

Re: Just moved close to the Mouse

If you like to go in the fall, you might want to look into seasonal instead of annual passes. The down side to that is,of course, the blocked out days and you have to pay for parking, but if you absolutely hate to go in the heat, that's the way to go. BTW,I can't believe you can wait that long before getting a pass! I moved to Florida 9/22/99 and had my pass by 9/30/99!!!!

Re: Just moved close to the Mouse

mickaholic - It's taking me a lot of restraint not to go purchase them, BUT.. we moved away from our family and they are coming down next June, so I want to wait until after this June so our passes will still be available. Don't know if we will buy them 2 years in a row. If it was up to my DH , we would have them by now.
