Off topic posts: Start a New Thread
Hey all, I just thought I'd post a little suggestion that might make navigating DC threads a little easier.
First off, bear in mind that there are a lot of DC users that only come here once in a while. In which case, those users are likely to see a LOT of threads that have activity since the last time they were here. Many of those folks might have a particular interest in the subject matter of a handful of specific threads. Lately, and all in good fun, there have been a number of threads that have grown rapidly, getting filled with posts that are completely off the topic of the original post. If it happens once in a while (which is really unavoidable) then it's managable, but if it happens a lot, then is can become a distraction. In those cases, it becomes more difficult for people to find the information that they are seeking. So, I implore everyone, especially the regulars (who should be setting good examples), if you find yourself 2 or 3 posts deep in an off-topic tangent, please, just start a new post. One of the wonderful things about the "Chit Chat" and "Mouse Trap" forums is that if you're looking for specific Disney related stuff, it's easy to avoid the "playing around" threads. On the flip side, if you're in a goofy mood, then those forums can be a whole lot of fun. So, please consider this in future responses. Just a little suggestion from your friendly neighborhood Poobah. ![]()

Re: Off topic posts: Start a New Thread
Thank you very much MerlinMatt! - they do get out of hand quickly. Not that anyone was trying to be mindless.
Just so everyone knows, I know I have been guilty of this, and it isn't intentional. Someone says something, I respond, it goes back and forth, and before you know it we've hijacked a completely innocent thread. Please help us save innocent threads from being hijacked. Every year, millions of threads get hijacked by careless people just looking to have a good time. :c( |

I can see the ad now: a piece of yarn crying as it gets driven away in a bus painted like the Partridge Family, playing really loud circus music... ![]()

oh wait the topic .. off topic post I have been know to hi-jack a thread .. and since my family is taking over DC ( have ya'll noticed that I have dang near my whole family on here now?) I feel that an occasional hi-jack can be just like a family get together .. you got the kids saying "he's touching me." and you have the silly family member that everyone just adores ...but thinks sometimes would look good in duct tape .. mmm think I got off topic again o' wise wizard you have given out words to post by :)

Re: Off topic posts: Start a New Thread
Matt
Thanks for the note, very nicely worded. I want to second what MerlinMatt posted. It is indeed frustrating for many members and guests who want to become more involved, but every post they read is dominated by a couple of people, or one person. There is no problem with a thread that makes no sense, but really, we only need one of them, not every thread. Thanks!
