Icon5 Nickelodeon hotel

Hello,

Does anyone have information regarding the new Nick hotel. I was thinking about splitting my stay next year at the hotel and a Disney hotel. It looks really nice and I think my son would really enjoy it.

Thanks

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

The Nick hotel is just the Holiday Inn Family Suites next to the Marriott World Center. They are basically redecorting the rooms and changing the entrance. Other than that, the hotel will be the same. (No comparison at all to the Hard Rock)

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

Oh good lord, is that completed yet?? I knew the Holiday Inn across from the place where the WDWCP kids live was becoming a Nick Kid hotel, but I didn't think they were taking it that extreme. I could see this being a Universal hotel, but this far from UF?? Anyways from what I've heard it is a good hotel to stay at, especially with kids, but it needed renovations anyways. The theming creeps me out, but thats only because I am very much against anything Spongebob!

HOLY COW! Okay I may safe in that I didn't see Dora the Explorer prevanently displayed anywhere. If she were and my DD saw it I could kiss WDW resorts good bye she would pitch a fit to stay at the Nick one. SHE LOVES DORA! Dora is only second to Kim Possible but Disney doesn't have a KP resort!!!!

OK I got to say: They are ruining that hotel!!!!!!!!!!! It is a wonderful hotel that may have needed a few small upgrades, but why are they doing that!!!! That is very nice hotel that I would recomend for larger families that want to stay close to WDW, but cannot afford something on site.

I am not sure if they are ruining it but I also do not like the theme. Especially the over-the-top Nick toons. We are not big Sponge Bob fans and Rug Rats is definitely out of the question. They are like training sessions for bad behavior for our kids.

But that being said, the size of the rooms are good for larger families. I am still waiting for Disney to come up with a reasonable solution for a large family to saty at WDW.

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

We stayed at this hotel not long after they opened and LOVED IT! My family absolutely loves staying on property, but we almost always struggle to make a decision between this hotel and staying on property.

The amount of room you get at this hotel is incredible, the pool is great, and the free breakfast buffet was wonderful.

I felt like this hotel was tasteful before; with the over-the-top Nickelodeon theme, I'm not so sure. I guess that's what sells with a lot of families though.

No matter, though....unless this hotel's gone way down hill since we stayed there, I'd stay there again!!!

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

ok I was lookin at the hotel again, I think it would probably be cool to stay there. Even though the only nicktoon thats left from my day is rugrats.... boy I feel old!
Also gcbdad brought up a good point, Disney does not have a good solution for larger families. I was looking into that for if my folks plan on coming down with me in winter. I can opt for 2 seperate rooms, or get a one bedroom villa and have them sleep on the sleeper sofa. I would prefer to be in the same room with my parents so I can chat with them at night. By having a 3 bedroom kidsuite as pictured that would be plenty of room, even for my sister to come along. Even though she would kill me for putting her in the kid room! Disney needs to come up with better options as people cannot afford grand villas and having 2 rooms, even if they are connected, doesn't make up for not having a living room for the whole family!

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

I don't think the theming is any more over the top than the Budget hotels at WDW. I loved staying at the POP but the biggest complaints my sister and I had were space and a lack of variety of restaurants to dine in. We chose the value resorts for the kids but it didn't suit us and I just can't justify spending over $200 a night at ANY hotel that's a basic hotel room no matter how much I love WDW. I think this will be a good value for larger families or people who like larger rooms without going broke.

Has anyone actually driven by the place to see what it is beginning to look like. When I called the reservation line they told me the hotel is fully functioning and should be completed April 2005. I wish they would have added a NickJr. character for the younger kids though.

ressieb,
That is what I am talking about. There are allot of Nick JR characters that would be great for the younger kids but it looks like they are going for a little older crowd.

Re: Nickelodeon hotel

Too bad - it would have been interesting to see what Disney countered with if there was a hotel devoted to "Blue's Clues" or "Dora" those shows have a strong, loyal fan base. Who knows maybe they'll add on a new wing or two and devote that to the Nick Jr. shows.

Anyway, I think that I will reserve a few nights for next year after I leave WDW.
