I know it's not Orlando, but need help. After 7 days at WDW we will be in Daytona for 3 days. Daughter is great NASCAR fan and it just so happens we will be in Daytona at the beginning of Speed Week. There are two events going on while we're there - Budweiser Shootout and Bud Pole Qualifying. I'm clueless when it comes to racing, I only watch the televised races sometimes, and wondering what exactly these two events are. I'm thinking the Qualifyer is time trials, but is it actually a race where all the cars are racing or is it in bunches? What is the Bud Shootout? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Qualifying is timed laps by a driver. One car at a time on the track, the fastest car wins the poll (first starting position) for the race. The Bud Shoot Out is a mini-race sort of. The top racers from the previous season go head to head in a race that is I think 25 laps or so. If you don't already have tickets it may be VERY difficult to obtain them. Most fans buy a package for Speed Week that covers all Speed Week events including the 500. These tickets sell out FAST! Check the NASCAR websit for more details.

Be sure to take your daughter to Daytona USA. It is an interactive museum of motor sports. There are all kinds of cool stuff in there. There should be a link on the NASCAR websit to it. Have a great time, we love Daytona!

Thanks, I decided to get tickets for the Bud Shootout. Got them through Daytona Int'l Speedway with no problem.

WOW, I can't believe tickets were still available ! That's great! You'll have alot of fun, but remember to buy earplugs, the track is LOUD !!
