Nick Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Suites)

Has anyone stayed here: http://www.nickhotel.com/

It looks awesome! Especially for bigger families.

I'd be interested to hear some personal experiences about this place. Also just wanted to make others aware of it.

Yes it does on theming. But the rooms are much nicer with kitchens and seperate bedrooms. I think a Breakfast Buffet is included too.

That's my conflict too. This is the first outside hotel that has peeked my interest.

You can request a brochure from them. I sent off for one, but it has not arrived yet.

Still, it's hard to pass up Extra Magic Hours and Disney Magic.

One of my truck drivers at work is staying there with his family of five in June. He has promised me a details..... I think it's a great deal for larger families. The theme is awesome too.

Re: Nick Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Suites)

We stayed there in Oct. 2004 during the change over from HI Family Suites to the new Nick Suites. We were not in one of the newly renovated rooms but I can tell you about the layout, resort etc. The 2 BR kidsuite rooms will basically be the same - only changes will be new wallpapering and bedding in the kidsuites area. We were told the living rooms, master BR and bath room would remain the same. The new 3 BR rooms will be different since they are changing the layout - basically they are putting the old residential suite (which included a full kitchen) and a 2 BR Kidsuite together. While I did enjoy the extra space of having our DD in her own little room, I found the rooms to be smaller than expected. It looks a LOT larger in the photos! We also had a problem with ants inthe master bedroom and were not offered a different room. They sprayed twice but it didn't help at all. Customer service was poor and our room wasn't clean. The bathroom had mold in the corners, very dusty under the bed and stains on walls. We were only there for 3 nights and were hardly in our room so I didn't press the issue with housekeeping. We were first given a room on the ground floor near the pool. We immediately requested another room - very noisy! We were given a top floor room overlooking the parking lot. We didn't have any trouble with noise here. The elevators were frequently out of order and it was a long walk to the other side of the resort to catch another elevator. I know I listed lots of negatives but there really are some positives. The resort itself is great for families... good price for accomodations, convenient parking, good food choices, great pool, well kept grounds - nice atmosphere.
I really missed being at a Disney resort but would probably give it another try now that the change over is complete. Maybe it was just bad timing for us!

If you go to the old website http://www.hifamilysuites.com/suites.html you can see that they really didn't change much with regard to the rooms. The change is mainly in the theming and the pool, lobby & food court.

Re: Nick Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Suites)

WE almost tried it a few years ago, and then went with a different hotel.

I would love having my kids in a seperate room! I know they would REALLY love staying at a Nick themed resort...

but it's not DISNEY! :c(

Re: Nick Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Suites)

I was there for a week in November. It was me and my ds (5) my mother and another friend of ours. They really wanted 2 bathrooms and separate bedrooms. I slept in the kids room with my son. We had the 3 bedroom with a full kitchen. It was great to put ds to bed and watch tv in the living room.

When we got there our friend had an allergic reaction in the first room. We suspect it was due to it being near the pool treatment area. She has some pretty bad allergies. I called and we were promptly and courteously moved to another unit. We had trouble with the tv in the kids room and they promptly switched it out for another.

We very much enjoyed the pool they had at the time and it will only be better now. The staff was very professional and the room clean. At that time there was a free breakfast that was nice. The atmosphere was very fun and happy there. There was a nice pleasant water lagoon to sit by and feed the ducks. If you need the extra room and cannot afford a villa at Disney then this would be the way to go. Although with the way they are raising the prices due to the Nick themeing I'm not sure now. We drove to the parks and this hotel is very close.

We had a very positive experience there. It was not like staying on site, though and in the future I would prefer to stay on site no matter what the theming of this hotel would be. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Oh geez. If my DS catches wind of this, he'll be dying to stay there. And we just recently discovered the joys of FOL privileges for Uni resort guests! I'll have to hope the commercial doesn't grab his attention.

Re: Nick Hotel (formerly Holiday Inn Suites)

Trying to decide if are family of eight will stay here or on the property. The Nick Hotel is not scheduled to be done until after May 2005. They do have some rooms done, one pool with 2slide done, 3000 sq. ft. arcade room done, family entrainment nights center done and mall and kids eat fee. But we are going at the end of April. So we could have a renovated room or not, no character meals yet, big pool not completed and work goin on. Don't know what to do.
