Is it worth it? I have never been and kinda always wanted to go. However, this is my kids first trip to Disney, and I am wondering if we are going to have time to squeeze it in? Any sugesstions...we are staying May 21-May 28?????

Sea World is great, BUT being your first trip to Disney I'd skip it. You will have a hard time doing all you want to do in WDW as it is.
I still remember my first on-site trip to WDW. Planned it for 5-days added two more days while we were there, and wished I added more.
Just my opinion, either way good luck and have fun!!

Re: Sea World

We went on our first trip last Easter while staying at WDW. It was one of the highlights of our trip. It doesn't take up a whole day. Have a great trip!!!!!

Re: Sea World

I agree with BuzzLightYear. You'll want to visit SeaWorld someday, but fill your kids with Disney on their first trip.

Re: Sea World

Shamu is the biggest show. They have a Kracken roller coaster ride that is one of those where you sit and your legs dangle. It goes upside down 7 times. My teen says its awesome. They also have a tamer water flume/coaster called Atlantis. There is a penguin encounter, polar bear exhibit, a walk thru tunner where sharks swim around you. The budwiser clydesdales are there as long as beer school with free samples!(DH favorite) There are dolphin and sea lion shows, and a lot more. I haven't gone in a few years but we are going this august. Also, most days that you go they will stamp your ticket to come back a second day for free withing 7 days. So you can go for one day, get your ticket stamped and come back some evening for the evening show with shamu.

Re: Sea World

We go to SeaWorld on every trip - but we've been going to WDW since 1992, so the circumstances are a little different. It's a beautiful park, with a much slower pace than WDW. But, if this is your first visit to WDW, I'd advise sticking to it. There is so much to see and do. And as soon as your kids get a taste of the 'magic', you'll have a hard time convincing them to see anything else. I'd advise concentrating on WDW this trip and plan on seeing Sea World on a future trip.

Re: Sea World

Of course, I'm going to say do it! Since it's the first trip for them - to both Disney and Sea World - they'll love it. Nearly all kids love the interaction with animals. It's a great break from Disney - not as rushed, the lines aren't as long, etc. Although it's not a complete stroll, it's very relaxed. So, yes, it's worth it.

Re: Sea World

Thx karliebug! I am trying to get a feel for the park and its attractions, so I know whether or not we want to visit in the near future. It sounds like a nice break from the other parks. I would like to take a day at Sea World and make it a relaxing day, just stroll and enjoy it a little. That's just too impossible for me to do at Disney. I can't do it! I know, it's a shame...

Re: Sea World

What's the best way to get to Sea World and back if you are staying on Disney property and aren't renting a car (we just decided to do Quicksilver from the airport)? Any idea of the cost?

Re: Sea World

Amie--

I think that if this is your first trip to WDW and you are trying to experience the biggest part of WDW, then you might want to skip SeaWorld. However, on our 1st trip to WDW in 1997 we did choose to go to SeaWorld and it was very much worth the day we missed at WDW parks. In fact my 6 1/2 (at the time) enjoyed it because we weren't so rushed to see/do it all. SeaWorld features several aquatic animal shows and Shamu is the main attraction. There are other animal shows there too but mainly aquatic. There is interation with Dolphins and StingRays where you purchase the fish and they eat it from your hand.

I personally think I would try it, just to give yourself a break especially if you are a "park commando". I speak from experience.

Re: Sea World

I just ordered our tickets on-line. We watched the Sea World special on The Travel Channel last Friday, thanks to the post. We haven't been there in 15 years and our DS is such an animal lover that we thought we would go for a day this trip.

Re: Sea World

The "danger" of going to SeaWorld in the middle of your trip is that your kids might find the slowed pace boring. It's a great park, but unless your kids are crazy about sea life, the experience might be lost on them.

My suggestion is, if you do SeaWorld, make it your first activity. But again, I'd do it on a later trip. I took my kids to Gatorland, SeaWorld, MK & AK in 2003. A year later, they were still talking about Disney, and had forgotten SeaWorld.

Re: Sea World

I'm so glad to see Sea World getting more attention on DC. It's helping get me more excited (if that's possible) about our upcoming trip.
