Re: cheap hotel

Are you going to go to WDW? The value hotels are nice, sometimes discounted to $50/$60. If not, we have been to the Travel Lodge near Old Town (about 5 min from WDW). It was around $50. Very baisic but clean. I know there are sometimes even cheeper places to go, I am just drawing a blank right this sec.

Re: cheap hotel

Jessie,
Go to www.priceline.com You can pick the area you want to stay in, but not the hotel. In 2003, I got a nice, clean room for $24/night. We were only 15 minutes from the MK.

Re: cheap hotel

I agree with caver -- I've seen folks get hotels for $18 a night on priceline. If the "riskiness" of priceline doesn't thrill you, though, check out hotels.com or any of the big travel sites like travelocity or expedia for great deals. Also, if you have a Disney guidebook like the Unofficial Guide or the Passporter, they recommend good off-site hotels.

Personally, I've stayed at the Day's Inn Maingate East (near the old town of Orlando) and it wasn't too bad.

I've never had a bad experience with Princeline. They only use national-chain hotels. So you're not checking into some creepy, dirty, rent-by-the-hour place.

Re: cheap hotel

I have stayed at those "by the hour" but have paid by the nite only because I was too lazy to drive home after going to Disney. I would also go to orbitz or priceline like caver, or expedia. Motel 6 are nice and are only around $20 a nite. I would really consider going to choicehotels.com they have great choices and some resorts have their own websites with cheaper rates. Hope this helps, or send me a PM if you need any more help.

Oooh yeah, I've almost stayed in some of those in Cali when we were homeless and broke... I chose to sleep in the car and spend the money on dinner instead.
