marriott or sheraton?
Need help deciding were to stay on my familys vacation to orlando.
It is the fist time the kids are going on vacation with us and we want to make it a memorable one. We are looking for a beautifull villa resort must have breathtaken surroundings as well as a great looking pool. our children are ages 15,10 and1. so far i have been looking at the vistana villages, and we seem to like the way it looks very comfy and cozy. is this realy as beautifull as it looks? or does anyone have any advice? Which of these villas are better, marriott cypress, marriott grand vista or the sheraton vistana villages? Thank You, Luz |

Welcome to DisneyCentral. I have stayed at both Marriotts, and they are both very nice resorts. The rooms are well done, nice common areas and some kid's activites. The downside of all these resorts are that they are far from WDW. When we stayed at Grand Vista, it was a good 30 minutes from our door to entering the gate at any of the parks. Even more to the Magic Kingdom.
If you are not going during an extremely busy time of the year, you shouldn't have any problem getting a two bedroom villa at Old Key West on property, for about the same as you are going to pay for any of those three resorts. Old Key West doesn't even compare to the resorts you have listed. I would strongly suggest you take a look at Old Key West before even considering off site. If you want it to be memorable for the kids, stay with Disney.

I agree with Mickey... staying on Disney property can't be beat. I've never stayed at Old Key West but they seem very nice and we are considering them for our next trip. I have stayed at Sheraton Vistana Resort (not the Vistana Villages) and though our villa was very nice and the amenities sufficient, we didn't have that Disney feel. We only stayed off property once and won't do it again. The commute ate up too much time and we didn't feel the same having to drive through the gates every day. However, if you are getting a really super deal through a time share or something I guess it would be worth staying off property. Going to WDW on a budget is better than not going at all!!! Good luck with the planning and welcome to Disney Central!

We stayed at the sheraton last year, I think it was the Vistana and it was not very good. They put us in a 1 bedroom which was nothing more than a small studio. This hotel does not have non smoking rooms and the people next to us smoked big time.
We are DVC member and the Sheraton does not compare to OKW. The rooms are 1st class and the facility is GREAT. You are on property and get that DISNEY feel for the whole trip. I have friends who have been to the Marriott and the feedback was good. All the Disney home away from home resorts are great. Good luck |

marriott or sheraton?
Thank you so much for everyones help on the information I requested.
I still need to know being the fact that we are only going to disney s magic kingdom and maybe one of the water parks, universal sssstudios and sea world is it still wise to stay close to WDW? Can someone please help me narrow it down to 2 resorts to choose from, the vistana villages, marriott cypress harbour or the marriott grand vista out of these three which 2 are the best? |

If you are only planing on a couple of days at WDW, it may be best to stay at one of the Marriotts. Both of the ones listed are right by Sea World, and in between WDW and Universal.
I would stick with the Marriotts. They are both new within the last 5 years. I like Grand Vista. It is built aroud a nice golf course, so each room has a nice view, and it is set back from International Drive, so you don't get the noise. Honestly, if the rates are even close, try staying at Disney. Their resorts just blow away any of the other timeshares in Orlando. When are you planning on going? That may make a difference as well.

Well, the summer is never the best time to go, but June is usually better than during July, so if you have to go during the summer, June is about as good as it gets. If you can go in the Fall, it is usually better, less crowded, and between Thanksgiving and Christmas is the absolute best.
To give you an idea, right now at Old Key West, a one bedroom villa is going for $243 per night including tax, and a two bedroom is $343 including tax. That is about as cheap as you are going to find them. These prices are for Nevember, so they may be a little more expensive next June. Of course, right now you can get a two bedroom villa at Grand Vista for $175 per night, so in your case, I would go for the Marriott.

No problem with the post. I would just take a look at each of them and decide yourself. They are both nice, and pretty close to one another.
Orlando Marriott Vacation Clubs The rooms are basicall the same, as are the amenities. The only difference is the golf course at Grand Vista and the location, though they are less than a mile apart. When it comes time to book, whichever is less money is the one I would go for, there really isn't much difference.

Hi Mickey I want to thank you again for your help, unfortunately after doing som research on both the cypress harbour and the grand vista we have learned that the 2nd guest room in the 2 bedroom villas at both properties only have a queen or full size bed and the kids would like to sleep in the same room with their own beds, if not it would be a war every night about who gets to sleep in the big bed.
So we have decided to stay at the vistana villages we decided to go with this resort after talking to one of the agents about which of the 2 sheraton resorts were better and she told us that we would like the vistana villages over the vistana resort because the villas are newer and more updated than the villas at vistana resort. What do you know about the vistana villages, Is it worth it? |

I believe that Grand Vista has two styles of two bedroom units. When we stayed there the last time, we had the two bedroom portion of a three bedroom unit, and the second bedroom had two double beds. I believe that their standard two bedroom has a king bed and a sofa bed.
I don't know much about the Sheratons. I know several people here have stayed there recently, they may be able to help.

We are planning on staying at Marriott's Royal Palms Villas from December 29 through January 2nd. Our rate for the 2 bed/2 bath villa that sleeps 7 is $158.00 per night. That is with AAA discount. (I decided to join AAA just for that purpose and then found out I could have gotten a $10 discount with the Disney Club Card - urgh!)
Mickey, thanks for the link you posted above. It was a much better view of the villa than we had seen and we are even more impressed now. Of course, I will give everyone a full report when we return. Now to convince DH that 4 nights is not enough... :p

Fifi, we stayed in Royal Palms a long time ago. Make sure you use the big pool at the Marriott, it is great, as good or better than most of the Disney pools. My kids really liked it.
