Shrek at Universal

Has anyone done this ride? Pete and I did it last week at Universal, and although I risk getting completely lambasted for it, I think it's the best 3D show I've ever seen. I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't gotten to do it yet, but it blows Mickey's Philharmagic out of the water.

I won't lambaste EJ, in fact thanks for the info...we are doing US the last day of our trip and are pretty excited. I would love to hear about some of the other attractions there...great, good, bad, etc...

Re: Shrek at Universal

I am happy that Universal has upped their quality again with the recent additions. There is room for both companies in Orlando and improvements only yield better attractions for the future in both places.

Re: Shrek at Universal

At Islands of Adventure you can skip Jurassic Park if you've done Dinosaur. It's the same thing, only Dinosaur is much much better (scarier, I should say!). Do the Hulk, Dr. Doom, Spiderman, Dueling Dragons, and see Poseidon's Fury. Other than that (unless you have little ones), that's pretty much it for this park.

Oh, a tip about Spiderman....they have a single riders line, and it's half the wait. Pete and I did this, but still got thrown in together.

Regular Universal, DO NOT MISS THE MUMMY RIDE!!!!!!!! I cannot stress this enough, this and Shrek are FABULOUS! Twister was pretty neat, but you have to stand in the front row to get the full effect. Of course you have to do Jaws and ET, Back to the Future will just shake you and give you a headache. If you've done other simulators, you've done this ride. Jimmy Neutron was cute, pay attention at the very end when Carl is creating Llamas with his magic wand.

Re: Shrek at Universal

Cat in the Hat is great even without kids. Maybe it is like Cartoon Spin at Disneyland, but since I've never been on that...

Re: Shrek at Universal

I read they are going to have Fear Factor Smoothies too.

Not long ago guests at the park were lining up to take a taste test of various “Fear Factor Smoothies” to find that perfect special-blend that is just right. Ingredients included: Cottage Cheese, Sauerkraut, Clam Juice, Octopus, various processed meats, quail eggs, turtle soup, squid and an “insect potpourri” that is a mixture of mole crickets, bamboo worms, grasshoppers and silkworm larvae. While gross, “all ingredients used in the smoothies are food-grade, and approved for sale by the Food and Drug Administration.”

If I recall, Universal is inferior to Disney anyway so your statement should go without saying.

Actually, I think you turn yourself on Roger rabbit whereas Cat in Hat spins for you. But it is a good dark ride outside of Disney. I was afraid my 1 year old (at the time we rode) was going to be thrown from the vehichle.

Re: Shrek at Universal

We've always missed Shrek because the queues have always been sooooo looonnnggg. Last time we where there it was a 3 hour wait and had no fastpasses (or what ever Universal call them). We are hoping to try it on our next trip as our DD want to do it real bad.

Same list for the most part. If you do Dueling Dragons, take Ice, the blue side. It's A LOT better than Fire. I was seriously expecting Poseidon's Fury to be a ride, not a show. But it's neat, and the tunnel is really cool.

We tried so hard to see Shrek last year, but the line, and even the FP wait was insane. We gave up and will hit it first thing next time. And yes, I've heard from most people that it's a lot better than Philarmagic.
