Emeril's at Universal

Has anyone eating at both of the Emeril's at Universal? I would like to know which you enjoyed most. We enjoy eating at his restaurants and are thinking of going to one on our next trip.

Any information will help a bunch....Thanks

Re: Emeril's at Universal

A friend of mine at there a couple of years ago. Said it was delicious but also very EXPENSIVE!!!

I'm not a cuisine kind of girl so it has never appealed to me. Maybe others will have more information.

Re: Emeril's at Universal

I can only comment on one because we only tried Tchoup Chop at the RPR, not the one at City Walk. but it was wonderful!! The service was unbelievable; they treat you like royalty. The food was exceptional. Not cheap, but definitely worth the price. The ambience was superb.

It is a treat that you won't regret.

Re: Emeril's at Universal

I know his restaurant in the Venetian is Vegas is outstanding. I was pretty drunk the night we were there and casually asked "What does a poor guy need to do to get a tour of Emeril's kitchn!?" When we finished dinnner we got one. I got to stare at Emeril's meat. I felt dirty. My next goal - Secure 6 friends to return and eat in the private dining room in the kitchen. All you need to do is spend $600! Piece of cake!

Okay back to Disney talk!

Re: Emeril's at Universal

We went to Emeril's this past winter. It was expensive for what we got (sorry can't remember what I had) and was overly salted. We both like Emeril and have a number of his cook books but I don't think we would go back.

(Your milage might differ...me and my DW are food snobs and bring down everyones rating on Zagat)

Re: Emeril's at Universal

First off, DW and I are HUGE Emeril fans, we watch the shows, have the cookbooks, cookware and all that...heck we will probably even buy the produce line he is coming out with later this year. We have never had a bad experience at any of the Emeril restaurants...can't say we have been to the ones in Orlando, but I am sure the experience would be no different. I will say that if you have a problem spending a lot on dining, then don't go...you will always come up with the guilty feeling that you paid too much even though the food was good (In this case I will say EXCELLENT) no matter where you eat. DW and I have no problem spending $100, $150 or whatever for a meal so long as it is tasty and the service is good...and if it isn't then YOU HAVE TO SAY SOMETHING, trust me, the manager of the restaurant knows that most of his/her diners are most likely there for a special occassion or splurge and if the service/food isn't up to par, they will do everything in their power to make it right (we have even had some VERY expensive meals for free with coupons given to invite us back to try and do it better next time). No by the way we don't complain to get free food (I know some of you are thinking that) but when it is bad (and sometimes it is) you must speak up.

Anyways go for either Emeril's and you will love it.

Oh one final thought...DW and I are in the habit of trying things we would not normally cook at home if we are paying big bucks...for example, I will not pay $30 or whatever for a filet mignon when I can go buy a 4 pack of them at Sam's Club for the same price and grill at home to rival ANY restaurant...same goes for a $15 chicken breast and so on and so forth.

Re: Emeril's at Universal

Thank you all so much for your input thus far! My husband and I are really looking forward to our next trip to WDW AND dining at one of Emeril's restaurants again. Like some of you we have been fortunate enough to dine in many of his restaurants in other cities! We save up just for that(besides all of our spending at the world)! Love that banana cream pie!!!

Re: Emeril's at Universal

I've been to both several times and plan to do either one every time we're in Orlando. What I don't think has been addressed here are the actual menus at both restaraunts/ Emeril's has what you would call standard Emeril fare. Tchoup Chop however is different. The menu is slightly themed as Asian/South Pacific to go along with the hotel it is in. When it first opened, the Orlando Sentinel sent a food critic to do a review, and this guy savaged the place. Said everything was too salty and had too much soy sauce, but hey, it is Asian. We ate there a month or so after and found everything excellent, and the reviewer to be totally wrong. We even mentioned it to our waiter, and he just laughed. He remembered the guy coming in, and nothing was going to make this guy happy, nothing.
So go, eat, enjoy, count calories and not pennies for this meal.

Thanks so much for your input, it really helps! We hope to go to one of the restaurants one night for dinner. Problem is we are not going to have a car, so we might rent on just for the day we need it. Any insight on transportation. Also, were these Emeril's as formal as some of the others we've been too? More to the point...Is it a bit more casual because of the location(theme park area)? I know that Tchoup Chop is in the Royal Pacific Resort, we were lucky enough to stay there just after its opening but unlucky in that Tchoup Chop wasn't open yet. Is Tchoup Chop more casual than Emeril's?

Again, thanks so much for any and all input!

Re: Emeril's at Universal

If you go to Emerald's, make reservations early. We tried to get reservations last November, but they were booked all week except for 5 PM, way too early, or 10 PM, way too late.

Thanks so much for the hint...We get all caught up in making our PS reservations for WDW, but don't think about "other" places.
