Calling all Parrotheads
Anybody have recommendations about trekking to Universal to Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville? We're thinking about heading over there for our next trip (our Parakeets are 6 and 4 and LOVE Buffett) but don't want to waste a trip off property.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
We ate there on our last trip while we were staying on property at Universal. The food was okay, atmosphere was fun but there was a long wait We would eat there again but only if we were staying there or near there. Wouldn't make the trip from WDW. Now...Emeril's on the other hand!!!

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
We went there twice, both times we were already at Universal. We went at lunch time, right when they open and did not have to wait at all. The food was OK, nothing spetacular. It wasa fun atmosphere . But I do not know if I would make the drive just to go there.

Dang - I thought we were talking about the man, the myth, the legend and his music. We're just talking about his restaurant - Shucks! Cheeseburger in Paradise is all we have in Chicago - the food there is excellent.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
We went there for lunch a few years back (before DS was born). DH and I are huge parrotheads, so we really enjoyed the atmosphere. Food was good - nothing spectacular - but good. Dh loved being able to order a Cheeseburger in Paradise! I'll echo what the others are saying - great place for lunch if you are at Universal, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to eat there.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
Hey there Im a total PARROTHEAD... DH and I go there everytime that we are in Florida... The food is good and we love the atmosphere.... I would have to say that if you have the time I would go over and spend time on CITYWALK and eat lunch or dinner there and then head back to Disney.
My favorite Buffett place is the one in Key West and Mo Bay'

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
We've been to Margaritaville several times. Of course, we spend half of our FL trips in Universal, so we're already there. We love it though. Good food, fun atmosphere and some great shopping too. I always stop in the store to grab a couple of souvenirs.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
I love Margaritaville. If for no other reason then they have the BEST drinks! We normally go there for lunch before the dinner crowd comes in. We use to go more often at night but that was before ds was born. The food is average as the other posters mentioned but the atmosphere is relaxing. But it wouldnt be the same if we didnt stop there. Each time I have to get a new t-shirt .

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
I am a mild parrotthead. I love Margaritaville. It's a good place for a burger, wrap, or salad. We did the Orlando Margaritaville at night, and they had a good band and everyone was up dancing.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
The closest thing to Margaritiville here by us is Cheeseburger in Paradise. Excellant food! So if you are a PH it seems that at least 1 stop at Margaritiville is a necessity.

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
Go and enjoy.
The food is fine....................although once we'd had a few Margaritas from the volcano we could only manage a starter and a dessert. Try to get seated downstairs to get good view of the band and that volcano. If you want huge portions of excellent food...............why not have a few drinks at Margaritaville and then head over to Latin Quarter a few yards away. |

Re: Calling all Parrotheads
I don't know about that place. I've never been there, but my friend went and had a bad experience. She said that the service was very bad, and they had to order their steak three times. The first time, it was quite undercooked and bloody, the second time it was completely charred. The third time it was okay, but she said that they had spent so much time worrying over the food that they didn't have very much time to enjoy it. But it might just have been a bad experience, or maybe she's just extremely picky.
