OK - I have something to confess

We have started talking about another trip to Orlando and it doesn't include WDW. We absolutely loved Universal so much that everybody has said they would love to do 5 days at Hard Rock Hotel (we stayed at RPR last time and loved it, but really want to try this) and just do Universal exclusively.

The bad part is that All-Star cheerleading, DDs first summer at overnight camp and new skis have pretty much tapped us out for a trip this year, so we will just plan on doing a trip to Hershey Park and Philadelphia this June and plan on doing the Universal trip in June 2007.

Re: OK - I have something to confess

I can't blame you in the least bit. Our family loves Universal. In fact, I'd have to say that staying at the HRH was the highlight of our trip last summer. It was positively decadent!

That hotel was really something. The staff was a little on the snooty side there, but I couldn't have cared less. We got all the park time in that we could need, then spent the remainder of our time enjoying that POOL!

There's a full service restaurant in the pool and they have entertainment there and even show movies poolside at night. We would have been happy to stay there all week even if there was no amusement park to go with it.

(Can you tell I was impressed?)

That sounds awesome! We want to go to Universal, but have to wait until my DD is a bit taller, so she can on all the rides. She is a thrill seeker (went on the Tower of Terror at three and it is still her favorite ride anywhere) and would freak out if she couldn't go on anything.

Re: OK - I have something to confess

If your family enjoyed it threre then it only makes sense for you guys to spend a bit more time there. WDW won't get it's feelings hurt. Hersey park has been on my DD's to do list for a year or more. I am considering taking her there for a long weekend the week after school gets out...just the two of us. With a 6-person party coming with us on our WDW trip, I feel the need to do something with just her.

I don't blame you at all!! I LOVE Universal/IOA. In many ways, it beats WDW, IMO. I've never stayed at Hard Rock Hotel, but have wanted to for quite a while.

Go for it!

Hey Dana - that is when we're planning on going too. Probably from the 24th or 25th thru the first of July. Let's chat closer and see if we can do a DC meet at Hershey!

Kippage - Isn't that considered blasphemy in these parts?

You're right, it is to some DC members, but Disney can learn a few things from Universal. (and to be fair, the reverse is true too)

There's probably a number of people here who would love to hang me for saying that. That might be why the replies so far have been so positive - half the board mumbled and walked away when you posted, lol

See, now we have to ban E&B's Mom from the site. She'll have to join at Universal site.

(Are there even any Universal sites to join????)

Haha! Yes there ARE, Cavey dear! And those people are every bit as fanatical as we are about Disney.
And don't even mention "the mouse" over there!

Well say hey! We are only an hour from Hershey (If HB drives!), let us know when y'all are going and we'd be happy to meet up and share a Hershey bar or two or three....

Would love to have a mini-meet. I'll have to bump this up as we get closer.

Re: OK - I have something to confess

Sounds like a great trip. Haven't been to Hershey Park in a long time. I mostly remember that some of the rides were cool and the smell of chocolate was everywhere!!! Thank God I don't work there!! It would be like an alcoholic working at a bar!!!
