Have you considered staying at a value resort on site, like at All Stars Movies??

First, welcome to disneycentral. This is the place for all your questions.

Not much time for your first trip! Our first trip was the same exact time of year, we were in WDW for the 4th of July. If you plan on going to the MK get up and out to the park early, it always fills up on major holidays. When we were there we opted to do MGM on the 4th of July. It was crowded but not unbearably so! Also I would suggest making PS (Priority Seating) arrangements for dinner so that you at least have that option open. To know that you have a place to sit down and unwind and eat is a big help when the parks get crowded! You can get a lot of answers here and in the many WDW books out there. We prefer Birnbaums WDW guide and WDW Passporter to help plan our tips. You may also want to check out www.pscalculator.com to help make you PS arrangements.:)
Once again welcome to the neighborhood and have a blast!

I misunderstood, I though you were arriving on July 03, 2003 From what I remember the parks were crowded but not so bad the days before and after. We stayed from I think the second right through the 8th. The busiest day was the 4th.
We're from NY and we fly out of LaGuardia in NYC. We always leave on the earliest flight (Usually between 6 and 6:30 AM) and leave on the latest (Usually around 8 PM). That way we have a whole at teh begining and at the end. On past trips we have used Mears shuttles but on this trip we are going to use Tiffany Town cars. The reason for this is threefold:
We are staying at Universal (Gasp) for days one and two. We will then move over to WDW at the Poly. It will be easier to make the transfer using Tiffany Town cars. The car will (Hopefully) be waiting for us when we land it will be quicker getting to the park. When we do the transfer we won't have do it around the shuttle time we can make our own time to move (As early as possible :) ). Then when the time comes for us to depart WDW at the end of our stay:cry: we can stay a littel bit longer and have our dinner at the Poly before leaving.

What time is your flight out of Orlando?

The only restarants I'm familer wiht are on property. Ohana's in the Poly is very good. Cape May buffet if you see sea food (They have a nice clam bake) All the other restarants we've eatten at are in the parks. LeCellier in Epcot. Liberty Tree, Tony's and the Crystal Palace in MK. Momma Melrose and Hollywood and Vine at MGM. Have yet to eatten a sit down meal at AK. There are plenty of chocies in the parks. If you do any of the character meals or restrant's in the parks look into planning ahead and making priorty seating arrangements.:)

I know that all the Disney resorts will stow you luggage when you arrive so you can check in and hit the parks. They will also stow your luggage the day you check out until the actually leave the property. I'm sure most of the hotels down there will that.
